Is Kessler the most overrated boxer on this forum ?

    Over the last few days the old Joe Calzaghe debate has cropped up again.... also we have been debating who should be ranked no1 at 168lb

    Now Kessler always comes up in the Joe debates and he gets touted as a fantastic world class boxer afuture HOF er etc..., But I'm really struggling to see why !!

    I admit I haven't followed his career very closely but can someone tell me why he is so loved on here ?

    His whole reputation seems to have been built around losing to Calzaghe and his next biggest names on there are a mediorce Andrade and an old Markus Beyer ......after that I'm looking for names on his amazingly padded record but I'm not finding any reason why he is so highly thought of.

    Could someone please explain ?

    He's the number one in a **** poor division.... Froch is number 2 and Elvis is number 3.

    The reason is Calzaghes resume sucks withut him been a great... therefore we really need to tell everyone how great he is = Calzaghe legend.

    No. Clearly, by far the most overrated boxer on this forum, and I don't just mean British Forum, is Carl Froch.

    Totally agree.

    I think he is a good boxer, but not as great as Joe fans make out on here

    Agreed, Carl Froch has by far exceeded him. Anybody with a brain realises he looked like a complete clown for long periods and only Taylor's stamina got him a win, and that he won't be so fortunate in future.

    I do think there is a difference between being overrated and being crap.

    Kessler is probably overrated.... but is still very good.

    To be fair to Kessler he hasnt only won every fight he's had other than JC he's dominated every minute of every round in every fight just about. Thats where his high rating stems from. The only fight he has lost was a competitive fight vs a top 3 P4P guy. No shame in that.

    He is already a 2 time world champ and was previously a unified champ with something close to 10 title fights to his name already. He's certainly the class of 168 right now and I dont thank saying taht is overrating him. Saying he deserves p4p recognision at this stage would be over the top though although he has potential.

    Yes but who were those 10 defenses against, some of those names make Joe's WBO reign look world class.

    His first defense was against none other than Henry Porras who Froch beat in his 15th fight. and other guys he has on there are 15-3 and 18-4 type of fighters

    The ironic thing is that the very people who proclaim, proudly, the great superiority of the British Forum over the den of ignorance and crap that is supposed to be the General Forum have become the biggest nuthuggers on ESB, and the very people turning ESB into an embarrassment, imo. :-(

    If thats aimed at me i'm not nut hugging Froch. Kessler would beat him. However his career is starting to put into context JCs

    This is the 2nd thread I have read this evening, and the 2nd one I have found you bitchin on about Froch.

    OK it's widly known about Taylor's stamina, but many people were saying - post fight - that Pascal was very poorly conditioned as well. Maybe Froch beating them round the head has a little to do with wearing them down too and them crawling over or failing to make the finish line.
