considering he had serious hand problems, up to the calzaghe fight, which later resulted in surgery, AND STILL gave calzaghe one of his toughest fights, is he being low-balled on esb.? a lot of the time fighters are "given" an excuse for their loss, even when there is no proof of the excuse. Here we have a valid reason, as to why he didnt perform to his best, against a guy who was a world class operator.
:goodI'd vouch for that as well. Brilliant fighter but 'ESB' and 'underrate Kessler' never belong in the same sentence. Just trawl through some of the older threads!
he's overrated. the other day, some fool was saying he was one of the best boxers in the world. he also said that he is one of the best pure boxers of all-time. i've never seen such a mother****ing robot get so much credit for losing. nonito donaire is the most underrated boxer here on ESB.
he's one of those fighters who get both a lot of people think hes an overrated fighter whos never proven himself others think hes the best super middle by a long shot im in the latter category
i have had the honour of watching kessler in the flesh and i can tell you he is real good, if this super-middleweight tournament goes ahead a can see kessler vs abraham in the final and kessler winning. the guy is a good boxer puncher incredibley accurate with his straight right hand promotional issues have slowed him down and nows his time to shine:hat
i think my question raises some interesting issues, as kessler did really well against a guy of joe´s calibre, while being underprepared.. even you nay-sayers, does it not impress you the slightest, that a fighter with a proven injury, performes at such a level, against a fighter like joe..? a fighter like hopkins gets a pass for being old, ill go with that, eventhough he beat the living **** out of pavlik, nonetheless kessler is being labelled overrated, EVENTHOUGH his "excuse" is more valid then ol´ bernards.
He's definately not underrated on here, he gets a lot of credit for losing to calzaghe. Too much in fact. I sometimes see threads of Kessler V Hopkins, or Dawson etc. When his last 2 fights were against rubbish opponents. I feel he is probably the best at 168 but has to prove it in this tourney at 168, its gonna be tough tho.
I've seen plenty of both: great fighter cut slack for promotional difficulties/over-hyped protected title holder with a weak resume. Whether it's 60/40 or 40/60 I haven't got a clue, but there's plenty of both.
Yes. I don't see him dropping more than a couple rounds TOTAL against the likes of Abraham, Ward, and Taylor.
