I'm supposing that since Khabib is known for dominating opponents on the ground and McGregor is famous for the left hand KO punch that it is a grappler/ striker match up but since I don't follow MMA closely I don't know for sure.
Conor is weak, on his back (Ala Mendez). Khabib is a meatgrinder for G&P... MacGregor is in real trouble, come the 6th. This fight will retire him and he’s back to throwing furniture at busses
Yes it is basically a great ground fighter V a great striker. Both guys have huge holes in their overall skill set imo which can be targeted. Personally I see the fight as 80% Khabib - 20% Conor. The first rd will be very interesting to watch.
People talk about Mendes, but Conor had done his ACL in and was never a true FW. That cut was clearly brutal every time he went down there. He had no muscle definition at all. Then you have to remember that Michael Johnson, who I rate, was teeing of on Khabib. Johnson isn't in the same realm as Conor when it comes to striking. So there's food for thought there... Most interesting fight for a long time!
Conor needs to keep his distance early, pepper Khabib with the jab and avoid at all costs the early take down, look for an opening to detonate the left flush on Khabib and if he hurts him, make sure and finish him off. Rapid leg kicks to Khabib will slow him but are also dangerous as Khabib will grab hold and look to bring him down. Conors movement and foot work are the key to success, that with pin point accuracy with the jab to set up the left.
