Hi everyone. I'm new on the forum. To be honest I'm not very well informed about the lightweight boxing scene. From what I understand Khan hopes to be a champion by next summer, and there are two current LW champions (Ruiz and Katsidis).

Would a Khan-Katsidis fight be a realistic prospect? What would you predict for such a fight? Would Katsidis even want to fight Khan at all?

The reason I chose Katisidis is because Earl fought him as well. Would this change anything at all (with the reasonin that Khan beat Earl so he gets a shot at Katisdis)?

Is there a reason nobody seems to suggest Katsidis as a possible opponent?

Because at this stage of Khans carrier Katsidis would probably beat him. Wait till he gets his defense worked on a bit.

There is no Lightweight champions by the name of Ruiz , there are 2 Diaz's though . Juan 'baby bull' Diaz who holds the WBA , WBO and IBF Lightweight titles and David Diaz the WBC champ . Katsidis holds the WBO interim .

Khan won't fight any of them anytime soon , Katsidis and David Diaz and simply too dangerous in terms of power and chin while Juan is just better all around and simply the best Lightweight out there .

Expect Katsidis to fight Juan Diaz in the new year .

I say a US appearence v Edner Cherry in maybee 2 fights time to open a few eyes, and if all succesful.. I don't see why not.. Katsidis is not unbeatable .. and Amir has time on his side..

Edner got rid of Wes Ferguson and has been in with the respected Paul Mallignaggi a year ago.. Its a great way forward..

I dont know about Khan yet.His victory yesterday was excellent but the victory still rankles me.Earl had been in a hellacious war with Katsidis.I dont know if this mileage of his clock but his chin was checked and although he retired there was no doubting his chin or heart.Against Khan he was out on his feet with the first solid punch Khan landed! Was this a result of the new bulkier musly looking Khan who was planting his feet more and punching with authority? Why did the ref see the need to stop the fight so quickly? A standing 10 count may have been better. But i guess its all subjective.Either way its poetic justice for me.Earl has had some VERY favourable decisions on his way to the top domestically and the guard has now changed.Lets hope Khan can live up to the hype which right now appears to be justified.

Sorry, I don't know why I typed Ruiz, I was referring to Juan Diaz.

Interesting. Isn't it unusual then that Earl got a shot at Katsidis, or does it come down to experience?

Alot of the posters here would have backed Katsides to knock out Khan, prior to the performance yesterday. I think that in his last two performances the improvement in Khan's technique had been massive. However, I do not see Warren feeding his golden goose to a genuine hitter who isnt shot like Katsides.

Warren is a very very shrewd promoter. I expect Khan to fight for an alphabet belt, and not face a real challenger next year.

There is virtually no chance of Khan facing Katsides IMO due to Warren.

katsidis is too experienced for khan at this point. katsidis and has a good punch, which he could land in frequency given khans defensive lapses.

personally i think katsidis is totally overrated..........so in other words, yes khan has a very good shot!!!

could be knockdown dragout....but at least this would be a real chance at some title for khan.

cause vs a diaz or some jr. welter he aint winning ****.

No. At the moment Katsidis would knock him out in Round 1.

Are you joking? Look at the punch that knocked Khan down - Katsidis lands about 20 of those power punches a round.

Tottally agree. How many shots did Earl and Amonsot eat of the fists of Rocky.

If Khan got hit by 5 of Katsidis Power Shots it would be good night.
And Katsidis connects alot of his Power Shoys just ask Czar and Graham which Katsidis ruined there boxing careers.

If Khan gets in with Katsidis in say the next 2 years he wil be Knocked the **** out.

Khan is progressing v fast, in the next 2 years Khan s/b head and shoulders above Katsdis - The way Katsdis fights he will have a few losses on his record by then.

In 2yrs Khan will be fighting at 147lbs......he's a very tall kid still filling out.....I reckon Khan could almost beat Kat now, but would for sure in 12 months.
