A 24/7 would make perfect sense for the Khan v Bradley/Alexander fight and for HBO to increase the fanbase for those two fighters future fights as well.

Again you are missing the point of 24/7.

It has nothing to with being, defending or beating or unifying a champion.

While we hardcore boxing fans assume they 'deserve' it based on competitive concepts like belts and championships, 24/7 has very to little to do with such concept.

HBO is not a sanctioning body. They are a broadcast network. They want viewers not champions.

If being champion helps so be it. What they need is a reasonable expectation that the fighters involve in 24/7 would draw mainstream appeal to some degree to grow the appeal of not only the boxer, but more importantly the PPV event.

It is like GQ having Tom Brady in the cover. Yeah he is a Super Bowl champ, but his mainstream appeal puts him in the cover.

With the live gate of less than 5K for Khan-Maidana it does not bode well for Khan. At least not yet. Maybe down the line with more exposure or maybe Alexander v Bradley will be a hit (I doubt it for now).

But right now, there is little evidence to support such expense for a production that will result in a very small viewership.

Yes, he is and Roach as a trainer doesn't hurt. HBO just has horrifying decision to make; will he be subtitled... (!)

In your small-minded world, that may be so.

But not the world in which Amir Khan just stood up to the challenge and won from the hardest puncher in the 140lb division. There are more people taking notice of him than ever before and they want to know more about him. :)

You make absolutely no sense. You are connecting two things that has nothing to do with each other.

Tell that to the less than 5,000 people who watched him fight live.

And I actually work in TV here in the US. So I know exactly what "the world" I am talking about.

What is that world you are talking about with Amir Khan?
The world that barely tuned to his fight even though he was co headlining it 3 other top prospects?

And what beating a 140 top puncher has anythign to do with 24/7?

You really don't know anything about TV production do you?

Why don't you pay and make a reality show for Hasegawa, Montiel, Donaire and Carl Froch here in the US while you are at it.

The idea that Khan/Bradley doesn't deserve a 24/7 tells me how much you know about the industry you work in m8 ;)

Please show me the evidence that I know less.

You keep saying vague things with no evidence with childish emoticons. LESS THAN 5000 live gate viewers? Come on. Pac did less than 35K paid gate and people where saying that is was "good" but not great.
And now you want a 24/7 for less than 5K. come on now. Your naive in the workings of broadcast TV. Stick to memorizing Boxrec.

You may know who is the boxing champion but that plays very little in deciding what show is PAID to be created.

Again, I welcome you to put up your own money to produce a 24/7. Montiel vs Donaire would "deserve" it more than Bradley vs Khan. Why not make a 24/7 for that fight.

    LOL

You maybe a boxing "king" but you utterly know sh!t about TV production and do not understand the definition of 'deserve".

    HBO Countdown, at most.

HBO won't put a Khan fight with Timothy Bradley, or Devon Alexander, on its PPV. And they're not going to do a 3 to 4 episode 24/7 for a WCB fight.

Amir's 24/7 debut will be in early 2012 when he prepares to fight Floyd.

In Thomas Hauser's recent "HBO and the state of boxing" series he said that the promoters pay for the 24/7's, not hbo.

"when HBO televises a 24/7 series that relates to a fight, the promoter foots the bill. Top Rank paid US$1,300,000 for Pacquiao-Cotto 24/7 and is paying a comparable amount for Pacquiao-Margarito 24/7. Golden Boy has incurred similar costs for 24/7 shows that involved its fights."

Floyd is the true protagonist of 24/7, he uses the services of GBP to promote him, and he's not actually signed to them. Does GBP end up footing Floyd's entire 24/7 bill?

^^This was my initial thought aswell.
(BTW No knock on either guy, IMO The match-up should defo be granted PPV status)
