Is Khan really that good?

  1. you may be right.... His chin is in question.. you can't deny though since he has moved up to LWW and been with roach he has fought better opponents and taken better punches and not had a problem.

He beats paulie with ease though imo.. He's quicker more powerful, better movement better footwork.. I dont see how paulie wins this at all.

Tremendous speed, top tier level. In speed alone he can be compared to the best, such as Floyd and Pacman.

Not a power puncher, despite what the Salita fight shows. He has okay dig, but nothing special. Most of the time he knocks people down via punches they simply don't see coming, or he overwhelms people with quick flurries for the TKO. So power is decent, but nothing noteworthy.

Chin is easily the worst part. Big questions surround it due to how even domestic level fighters have managed to deck him. Most people would thus bet on a power puncher to put Khan's lights out. Some argue that his chin is better at this higher weight, but it's yet to be proven. To be fair, he took Kotelnik's punches well.

Lovely jab (Roach compared it to Hoya's) but he barely uses it. His best punch appears to be the straight-right, as is the case for most orthodox fighters. Good footwork/footspeed, but needs to use it more -- has thankfully been doing that since being trained by Roach. A bit of a leaky defence, but again, this is improving under Roach -- he's now blocking hooks much more easily, and is learning to shell up with a tight guard. More importantly, he's learning to use an in and out attack rhythm, which favours his speed, and makes it more difficult to land on his suspect chin. Offensive skill is clearly superior to defensive skill, as he's one of those rare fighters who aren't shy about throwing combinations, and when paired with his handspeed, it's a daunting task to get around them. Needs to use more head movement.

Superb amateur pedigree. He was only 17 when he won a silver medal, and he actually would have won the gold, if not for the fact that he came up against the legendary Kindelan (who often embarrassed opponents with the level of his skill) a masterful southpaw.

He's relatively unproven for a world champion so far, but this Malinaggi fight should be a very good test. People argue that he should be facing Maidana, which is true, but I still think this is a credible fight. Malinaggi may not be a big puncher, but he has the skills and speed to expose Khan, if Khan truly is an overhyped mess, as many critics claim. It's an interesting fight.

He's very good, but just because he's been proved chinny, doesnt mean he cant go far at all. Lennox Lewis and Wladimir Klits? Definined their HW Era. And thats the HW's , where one punch really is all it takes.

  5. Nice analysis.. He actually beat Kindelan too a few months after the olympics in his last amateur bout I believe. His final record standing at 100/2.. both losses to kindelan

Basically No. All the kid has is handspeed and to be a top fighter it takes more than that. Amir Khan is the most protected fighter in world boxing. Hes never been in with world class opposition and alreadys hes been down 5 times and 3 fights ago was Ko'd in the first round. His chin is among the worst in all boxing yet he is hyped up to high heaven all because Freddy Roach trains him. Basically hes a speedy fighter who won silver at the olympics in 2004 and since then has had everything given to him on a plate.

He wont last long when they put him in with the top guys at 140. His chin is appalling, you will soon see

I thought that he would think more before spouting **** after Prescott blew him away. I was wrong though, he is still spouting ****. If Malignaggi Ko's him there will not be a big enough rock for him to hide under. He needs to keep his cocky mouth shut and do the business in the ring.
