If he went more to the body maybe, but he is a head hunter. Rarely rips to the body. Top 3 - no. Top 10 maybe

I know he may not be in the elite yet but Chavez jr is a good body puncher, and he really commits to going downstairs through out a fight.

Top 5 no way. He just doesnt go there enough but when he does he is good but there are still better out there. And the shot against Judah I really dont count it was on the cup and dont really think he was hurt by it he was just looking for a way out and that was it. The shot against Maidana was a peach though but besides that I havent seen much body punching from him.

JMM, Margarito, Segura, Cotto, Rigondeaux, Bute, Guerrero, Canelo, Ward, Johnson, Hopkins, Chavez Jr, Rios, Montiel, Cazares and even Pacquiao, Arce and Vazquez Jr could all be considered better body punchers and are also more dedicated to it. But he could be top 5 if he focused more on them instead of head hunting with flurries that dont really have the power behind them his body shots do. Roach should really make him do more of that. Just like Pacquiao they have great body punches but dont throw them often. Remember that shot Pacquiao landed on Margarito that almost had him out of there early in the fight? If Pacquiao went to the body more he wouldve knocked Margarito out with them. Think I'm seeing a trend here with Roach's fighters kinda being head hunters. Last great body puncher he trained was Toney but Toney already was a great body puncher way before Roach started training him.

Maidana was careful to keep his elbows down after that shot. But still, I agree he could have tried a lil harder to keep Maidana's liver tenderized.

Seems to get much more leverage on his body shots than he does when he goes upstairs.

He said him and Roach have been working on body punching a lot and you can tell.

There are still shitloads of fighters who are better at working the body though, but if he keeps improving he'll be up there I'm sure. It's a great quality to have.

    Top 10 right now: Definitely.

Top 3? No, not with people like Marquez, Bute, and Cotto still in the boxing game.
