This. A lot of morons on here that don't seem to appreciate the path Khan took. He could have stayed in Bolton with good money, easier fight etc. but he chose to go the harder route fighting abroad and sometimes in opponents back yard. Without rematch clauses and other contract/political ****. In addition to that he is rarely in a dull fight. It amazes me how Khan is treated on forums and how he "isn't world level" etc. silly talk. He has his flaws like every human being but not to the extent he gets criticised for.
Well people say "haha look, Julio Diaz almost beat him and he sucks!" when Diaz should have been coming into that fight off a win over Shawn Porter...
He has achieved more than most. Won two straps and defended them well. but his stock isn't rising like the thread suggests, it's definitely gone down since losing to Prescott and Garcia, his last two fights were poor as well. That's not to say his "stock" won't rise again, he just needs to put a few good performances in against top level fighters, if he's to get back to the standard he set a few years ago.
Fair point what I meant by stock rising is that even though he hasn't been active just by the fact as other british fighters are finding it so difficult to step up automatically his stock rises without him doing anything as more and more people think hang on it's not as easy to do what this kid has done. Like shares in a business when other companies fail some companies sell more shares not necessarily because they have done anything new but because there business has gone through difficulty they are recognised more. Enough waffling. .:yep
His stock was high as soon as he turned pro, many successful Olympians become house hold names which gives them a good start. Going on shows like Question of sport, Comic relief and all those BBC friendly type shows helps massively, it did for Audley Harrison despite how badly his Pro career went. That huge early attention and media interest eclipsed the vast majority of fighters in this country by some margin. Him and his team did very well to keep the momentum of support going by moving to America, which was a massive factor in GBP signing him as well as being a fast exciting fighter. I think throughout his career his stock has been very high relative to his achievements in the ring. Like I said before, though his performances have not been as good recently and a lot of people have their eyes on his career because there's potential the wheels are starting to come off, after all it's been a bit of a roller costed the last year or so.
It depends what you actually mean by "stock rising". Does he become more valuable to us, as his fellow countrymen, given that other UK fighters are stepping up and falling short? Maybe. Does this mean we respect him any more or think better of his fighting ability? I don't think so. I find it hard to get excited about him these days; it seems he's found his level. Definitely a world class fighter but will likely come unstuck when fighting either the very best or simply someone who can exploit his fragility.
I love how Khan is Demeaned by some white guy like Cleverly, Hatton who beat over the hill bums and lost against Lomachenko (who was knocked out against PAULIE MALIGNAGGI) get the praise. This is a typical UK mentality of people who say nothing to the majority of pedophiles and estate counciling benefit takers who are white, but dislodge the majority of NHS works construction workers who are from an ethnic background. Double standard.
I think he disliked and or mocked because he has been badly ko and knockdown a fair few times and talks too much for some. I think he has talent just hope he isnt shot as hes fun to watch
His stock is probably at an all time low, but a good win against Collazo will help propel him back into the world level, and more exciting fights to follow.
Some interesting points no need to bring race into it can we have a khan thread that doesn't turn into white boy this brown boy that :good
Yep but to be fair he ain't fighting chumps. Diaz is now fighting Thurman, Judah with maybe 1 more round would of stopped Garcia, Maidana beat Broner badly and is now fighting Floyld, Garcia beat Lucas who at the time people were saying he's a beast so losing to him is no shame. What other british fighter has mixed it with top competition at his age.
Well done Khan to school Collazo like that so convincingly Molina who Khan destroyed had a good 12 rounder with Broner. Maidana gave Floyld problems was on him like a fly on **** for 12 rounds. Khans stock has without doubt risen:good
he went well, he needs to push for the mayweather next, Forget the religions stuff, he needs to in September, strike while the iron is hot. he was very good to night. there is a massive pay day there for Khan, 10 million the is massive money. Him and his family set up for life.
