Some good wins over Tommy Ryan (all be it in questionable circumstances), Dan Creedon, Mysterious Billy Smith, and well as Gus Ruhlin, Peter Maher, and Choynski. Had a reasonable claim to the middlweight championship

    His resume suggests so.

Yes he was. A skilled pound for pound type of puncher, who was both tricky and cruel in the ring. McCoy beat larger men.

You could argue he would have been one of the all-time greats at super middle or light heavyweight, neither division existed in his prime, so he beat name heavyweights instead like Ruhlin, Choysnki, and Maher, in addition to much bigger heavyweights like Ferguson, and Russell.

He also gave Sharkey, and Corbett fights in stoppage losses.

Too bad there is not film on him in the ring, outside of sparring. Or is there?
