Is Kosta Tszyu the most overrated fighter on ESB?

Bull**** & more bull****. Kessler has one of the best jabs in the game. Edison Miranda doesn't. They both have some nice KO's to their credit and that makes both of them popular with boxing fans.

Never jumping weight classes hurts Tszyu in ATG comparisons. But he'll always have Judah, that right hand was simply masterful. At his best, a match for anyone in history at 140.

 

Right I think in a sense that helped and hurt him. Hurt him in terms of his ATG status overall but helped in a sense that he was THE man in the division. That probably earns him more kudos than beating a decent shopkeeper at 147 would've helped.

Would've been a different experience seeing Kostya at 147 though...Not sure how it would've turned out.

If your list of the most overrated starts with Tszyu and then you throw Chavez and Duran as 2 and 3 you really need to just give up on the sport now.

Tszyu was a world champion amatuer with an astoundingly good record.

When he was active, he was the only fighter behind Oscar and Roy Jones in terms of having faced current or former World Champion opponents.

It may annoy you that some people think that Tszyu could have handled Floyd, but dude - MOST overrated ever list is Tszyu, Chavez and Duran?

People who say that are the ones who go for hype over substance. Judah won the first round by a fair margin, and then got completely dominated in the 2nd before he got knocked out

In fact, before the knockout Tszyu won the 2nd round by a bigger margin than Judah won the first.

He was one of the best amatuers I have ever seen, I don't know his record but it is an awesome one. To say he has an average boxing ability is ignorant.

 

It's hard to take a guy serious as a boxing phan or poster, who has only seen 4 fights of a boxer, and tries to denigrate him off of them. Tszyu's legacy speaks to most knowledgable phans...while there will always be those who over and/or under rate. If I only saw DLH fight Sturm, Molina, Pac & trinidad I would not be overly impressed either...or If I saw Mosley against Forrest I & II, Cotto & Vargas???? C'mon if you are going to critique a boxer at least take the time to adequately watch footage of him!

 

Most overrated fighter on ESB is Floyd Mayweather Jr.
-Most of his wins in the lighter weight divisions were against good, but not great competition.
-Lost to Castillo in their first fight (and it is not just my opinion).
-Ducked Stevie Johnston.
-Best win came against a weight drained and un-focused Diego Corrales.
-Barely beat a bored, greedy businessman (DLH), and some even say he lost that fight.
-Ducked Antonio Margarito.
-After he beat Gatti, Judah, and Baldomir, fans of his were proclaiming he was one of the greatest fighters-of-all-time.

Conclusion: First half of career had a good resume, but turned out to be a very good fighter who didn't seem to want to test himself against the very best as he moved up in weight.

He also made Hatton give up his biggest advantage (his strength at 140) when he fought him. And now if Pac beats Hatton at 140 while moving up in weight it will be another question mark on what is probably Floyd's 2nd best win in his career.

 

Kostya is overrated by his fans and this is my reason why. He has not beaten anyone great, nor has he beaten a bunch of good guys in their prime. When he is matched against guys who are great on this forum, he wins polls at times that I witness on this forum against guys who have done tons more in this sport. He was a good fighter, but he never got revenge on Phillip who beat him while Kostya was in his absolute prime. No rematch, and he is penalized in history. Many fighters can't do/get immediate rematches at times, but when you are in the drivers seat, and in your prime, you have to do the rematch. The greats do rematches IN THEIR PRIME. The Hatton loss doesn't count, but he never rematched Phillips.

 

Any true boxing fan knows that Floyd isn't overrated. The fact that you say he lost to Castillo, and ducked fighters is comical enough to the point that you are discredited from this discussion lol...
