    Well Calzaghe barely gets any credit for moving up in weight, going to Hopkins back garden when Joe was shot and schooling Hopkins years back when Hopkins was in his prime.

    So it depends really? I think the answer is Kovalev is ranked about right as the no.2 P4P in the world, it's just Calzaghe is underrated.

    Their pretty similar in quality, maybe Kovalevs is slightly better but there isn't a great deal in it. I think Fonfara would give Pascal a very tough fight.

    Best wins on Kovalev's resume:

    * Hopkins (50 years of age, but still an existing titleholder)
    * Cleverly (undefeated titleholder)
    * Pascal (former lineal champion, Top 5 contender)
    * Campillo (former titleholder, Top 10 contender)
    * Caparello (undefeated, lower Top 10 contender, though a bit untested)
    * Boone (dangerous journeyman/fringe contender)
    * Agnew (undefeated but largely untested)
    * White (Top 15 contender, but one whose chin had already been checked)
    * Simakov (Once beaten prospect)

    Pretty good, but there does seem to be a precipitous drop-off from the top two or three names to the rank and file. Stevenson, Beterbiev or Ward would certainly help, though.
