Agreed 100%. Papa just doesn't have any enthusiasm. His voice and demeanor seem better suited for Baseball or Golf. It's funny though, when he replaced Fran Charles, I actually thought it would be a big step up for the B.A.D. commentary. But now...I'm realizing he is just as dull as Fran.
Bob Papa just strikes me as a "in it for the paycheck" kind of guy. Like even though I dislike Emmanuel Steward at times as a commentator, his heart is in the right place and he's obviously a guy who lives for the sport. Max Kellerman may be a turd but he's on point with his facts and he always seems to be into the fight. Bob Papa REALLY sounds like a 50 yr old housewife who got dragged to the event because her husband wanted to see some boxing and suddenly she's doing commentary.
Everyone is prone to mistakes. Obviously he was thinking of Bruce Seldon, who nearly pissed himself and went down w/o Tyson having to really do anything but show up. I will say though, that Harold Ledderman has been on the downside for seven years.
I don't know, I was just checking out Candice Sanders' myspace page...***** seems pretty crazy. I'd take that whole story with a grain of salt. :yep
Lampley was the very first "College football sideline reporter" with ABC back in late 1960's when I was in college. To be nice.....he wasn't very good at it and ended up with HBO when they started up boxing coverage.
oops my badatsch oh well just a couple years off he' just seems older because he's been around forever and a day..
How about Tessitore for the Green/McCrary fight? "Look at this! Holy cow! Oh my God! What a monumental upset this could be! This would be the biggest upset in YEARS! Donnie McCrary!"
