Is Lemieux vs GGG a way for Oscar to hype Canelo vs GGG?

Im excited to see my fellow Canadian step up to challenge GGG but inevitably I, like many of you, am a realist, and dont realistically see Lemieux lasting more than a few rounds. I have been excited about this fight for a while now (as for the past few months I have created multiple threads on how much this fight makes sense and I would love to see it) but I cant help but see this fight as Oscar being willing to "cash out" Lemieux to further hype a mega fight with Canelo.
If Canelo beats Cotto, the obvious next option is GGG. That's 2 mega fights in a row for Canelo...and more importantly, 2 mega fights for Oscar.
Am I the only one thinking poor David might be cashed out to further the $$$ of the goldenboy?

I believe so. Not saying that Oscar wants Lemieux to lose...I just think Oscar realizes that either outcome is good so why not do it.

Most likely. Even if Lemieux loses, he's young and can bounce back. This is Oscar playing his pawns to line his pockets. Canelo can bounce back from a loss too.

  4. Canelo will not fight GGG anytime soon I promise. They are going to let Gennady turn 37 before they fight him. Times a ticking.

Well if he refuses to fight him then he will forfeit his WBC belt (if Canelo beats Cotto, that is). So, GGG will not even care about Canelo after that because he got what he wanted.

It's a way for Oscar to bolster his relationship with HBO, Lemieux, and his bank account.

So GGG becomes a WBC champ because his opponents ducked and forfeited the belt?

    Could happen.

He has to get by Lemieux first, but entirely possible he will get handed WBC belt due to someone vacating.

Yup. Golovkin would like to fight Canelo or Cotto and get the exposure, but he wants the title much more than he wants the person.

If he gets the title- whichever way- then he gets that much closer to unifying all the belts in the division. Then, he will get more opportunities to have better opponents since everyone will have to go through him to get a title. :)

There aren't enough ret@rds out there shameless enough to demand someone that hasn't had a single fight at the full 160 limit to take this fight.

Lemieux is on a comeback and has a credible win over Ndam, and some even say he's a better challenge than Canelo, which might or might not be true. But yea, Oscar and Hbo need each other, eventually all these companies, even the ones with bad blood, at one point will be business partners once again. GGG definitely finally got a name to use as a springboard, and not a soft touch either. Cred must be given to Lemieux for taking the fight.
