Lewis is one of those changing of the guard heavyweight for me. Moving out of the 80 s pack, getting bigger but being successful with it, rather than seen as an odditity.

Luck? The fight went exactly to plan for him. Nothing lucky about it. He meant to hit Lewis on the chin with that right hand. He wasn't waving to someone in the crowd and hit Lennox by accident.

This. Louis chewed and spit out big heavyweights. Lennox’s size won’t mean squat once Louis starts landing combinations on him.

All the big guys Louis fought would get blasted out with relative ease by Lennox Lewis. Lewis was dimensions above those methodical oafs

He chewed them cause they had limited skill. Lewis mops the floor with Louis and finishes him any which way he wants.

Lewis's cautiousness (under Steward) would prove his undoing. He would be amped and ready for sure, but he'd only be able to hold off Joe temporarily. He'd prove ultimately incapable of avoiding those combinations for too long. Louis was also a great finisher, so once Lennox gets hurt...

Lennox Lewis was a great, great fighter and champ. Though I would be leaning more toward Lewis in a later rematch, I don't see him surviving the Louis onslaught in a first meeting.

yea easy why do trolls always say how joe beat big guys like have they ever seen Lennox's era cause it's easy to see joe didnt beat anybody who is a legend for skills

none of the dudes joe fought would make pro except maybe rocky and even him he would have to make changes

joe a man who moved like he was sneaking with bad defense who looked like a lw and wasnt tough for taking big shot mops the floor with a man who took mutiple shots from heavy skilled big man where do these dumb trolls come from

being to nice they had trash skills those dudes was trash compared to 70-90s I have said this before

it's like saying a person who plays rookies in pool destroyed them yea it's good but put them against real skilled people he doesn't look as dominate so it's not really anything to brag on its dumb to brag on really

This is pretty much it. Wouldn't right off either man's chances.

Very debatable. If Buddy Baer connected flush on Lewis he’d knock him senseless and Abe Simon before his appendix injury had an excellent jab, so I don’t see Lennox having an easy time with either.

Carnera on the otherhand by the time he fought Louis was damaged goods and had a bad leg, so Carnera at that point in his career would lose badly against Lennox. But, Carnera before the leg injury would definitely give Lennox a tough fight.

In a best of three (as I am apt to consider ATG match ups nowadays) I think Louis would win at least one by KO. I can see one with Lewis winning a close-ish but decisive decision. My most minority opinion is that one bout (probably the third) would be safety first and low output, with the winner taking an inconclusive SD. Something like Lewis being a safety first ring general, and Louis pressing but also not being that effective, you know? I could also see this happening in a one-off for a Lewis victory.

In a one off, Lewis is the logical pick but I can't help my intuition telling me Joe would score a KO.

Ridiculous. Lewis would destroy Baer and Carnera on the same night
