This is fine and good, but they were both ranked at the top and beating top fighters in the division equal or better than past greats were doing such as Dempsey, Tunney, Holmes, Patterson and Marciano. Lest not forget he beat ever fighter he ever faced.

Lewis would be lucky to find himself in the Top 200 BEST fighters in the history of the sport, maybe even more, many more... and by best I mean TRUE Great fighters, past (mostly), and present.

as far as HWs go there are 100 in history, In HISTORY that could have beat him at least once.

there are far more great fighters out there than people give credit to, all because of these stupid achievement alphabet based lists and compu stats and other such B.S.

Head to Head on equal terms is the only honest breakdown!!!

All fighter have a CHANCE, but Im sincerely interested in hearing about 100 heavyweights that could beat Lewis considering only 2 did it and were crushed in rematches.

And h2h is not an honest breakdown.....its a fantasy that cannot be proven.

Probably based on the fact that:
-He's 19-2 against currently ranked top10 contenders, a record only bested by Ali and Louis (who fought more litter)
-Beat more punchers than anyone in history except for Ali
-Was a top3 heavyweight for 12 consecutive years
-Beat every man he ever faced, including his peer greats Holyfield and Tyson
-When at the end of his career, still beat the future champion in Vitali Klitschko who was in his prime and would go on to remain a top heavyweight eight years later, today. Only Louis (Walcott) and Dempsey (Sharkey) had the honor of beating a future champion near the end of their careers.

I could go on, but you get the point. :bbb

But you have stated in the past that "You had Holyfield the winner of their rematch".. Tyson was not highly ranked up unto a couple of months before their fight, for you to claim that he was not a shot fighter is laughable  with Lewis only agreeing to fight Tyson on the condition 40 police officers cordoned off the ring so that Tyson could not eye-ball Lewis and give him diarrhea....... a couple of questions for you:
1/. Who did Lewis legitamately beat who was At The Top of their Game?
2/. Who are the journeymen fighters who poleaxed Dempsey, Tunney, Holmes, Patterson & Marciano in a similar fashion to how Lewis was leveled by Rahman & McCall?
3/. Was any other Undisputed Champion in Boxing History stripped of every Title belt for refusing to fight the No1 contenders (Ruiz WBA, Byrd IBF, Vitali WBC) ?

If Lewis was born in America this debate wouldn't even need to take place.

After re-watching the second fight I changed my opinion. Objective people do that. To answer the rest of your post just see the one above yours by ChrisPontius.

If Lewis didn't come off so smug this debate wouldn't be taking place. I was a detractor for a long time, but the facts speak for themselves.

    JAB5239 " All fighter have a CHANCE, "

and how long have you been a boxing fan?

the truth is the opposite, there are many a great fighter that never get near the top, quite simply because they don't belong to the right people and are left somewhat floundering...

then of course are the great top men who can't get near the champions - Boxings IS Famous for Ducking and Protection, or haven't you heard this. Especially in the past before widespread media coverage where most fighters weren't seen outside smaller circles, and in many cases kept that way!!!

Boxing IS the most corrupt sport in Sport, next to Olympic Figuer Skating of course!

Than how do you justify your claim that there are 100 fighters who could have beat Lewis?

Oh, and I've been a boxing fan since the mid 70's. Been following it closely since the mid 80's.

    How is this measured ?
How do we define who is a "puncher" or not ?
