Is Lennox Lewis overrated? He was good though,but was he that good?

What this forum really needs is another Lennox Lewis thread.

 

Walcott, Moore & Charles weren't 'corpses' tho.. Walcott had just beat Charles, Charles had just beat Satterfield & Wallace , Moore had beat Valdez & Johnson.. Tysons best wins were long gone by the time he fought Lewis, the Golota fight was a debacle.. they're not comparable careers. Marciano never lost either.. Lewis arguably lost X3.. Mercer.. he mostly had a huge size advantage too. The Rock was a stumpy 185lbs..

This game can be played forever. No champ gets the privilege of facing fellow greats at their absolute peaks. Every pro fighter goes into almost every fight with issues both inside and outside the ring. Stop reading boxing history like it's a comic book. Fighters are liquid assets, changing every day, their worth falling and rising, just like you and I in our mundane lives.

In the end, the quantity of the quality that Lewis faced is pretty astounding, especially in terms of power punchers.

What you are doing with Lewis only supports your argument if you don't do it with all the other champions.

Yes, Walcott was an ancient journeyman in his final two fights, the second which he just laid down. It's on film. You can watch his legs betray him over the rounds in the first fight. And if you don't believe me, I can quote a dozen or more articles of people ringside claiming just that. And the same number of writes predicting just that BEFORE the fight. He was an old journeyman with a few tricks and no clue about being consistent.

Charles was a lightheavy on cusp of being a .500 fighter as a neurodegenerative disease destroyed his body.

Lewis didn't have the privilege of fighting geezers, lightheavies and white dopes. Almost everyone of his opponents looked like they just walked out an NFL lockerroom. Does Don C o c k ell look like he could have played ball in the league? Doughy Rex Layne? Does that old mummy Louis look like it? Mathews? Sad, old Archie Moore? Hell no. Lewis could have cleaned up that mess in an afternoon.

I can see an argument for any order of my 3-5 but that's the order I have as of now.
