Is Leonard Ellerbe currently the best str/conditioning trainer in the game?

    Pretty circumstantial basis on which to give Sr. credit, if you ask me.

    Circumstantial but repeated. Floyd's conditioning in the Canelo fight was as good or better. You can say he was fighting only a few months later which certainly helped, but the Guerrero fight was a year after Cotto with a jail stint in between. Add that to Floyd's statements about Roger slipping and Sr's infamously strict training regimen and I think credit to Sr. is logical. I may be wrong but without first hand knowledge, it's probably the best guess.

    I hardly think Roger was lax in his training regimen, though.

    His conditioning wasn't even particularly bad versus Cotto, either. He looked more ordinary that night than with Guerrero or Canelo due to styles more than anything. Cotto would still trouble him in a rematch today with Floyd Sr. in the corner just as much, IMO - maybe even more with his new leaf turned over with Roach in his own corner (but would in turn lose to Canelo)

    Is that what he does? I always thought he was a professional lick-ass and leach.

    Roger wasn't lax at all. What Floyd jr said was that he overtrained vs. Cotto because Roger's eyes were no longer good and his dad knows how to strike a better balance.

    Nope. He makes 7 figures for a reason.

    He's a great multitasker and a great do-it-all person for the company.

    Don't get me wrong, His conditioning is always excellent. It wasn't bad against Ortiz and Cotto, but his condition was clearly better 18 months earlier against Mosely. Almost giving credence to the argument that he had aged. For the record, I can't name a fight where his condition wasn't better than his opponent's. He took it to another level against Guerrero though.

    Not sure I agree with you about Cotto. I only gave Cotto 2 rounds (3 is a stretch, more than 3 is insane), with 4 total relatively close rounds. I also think he does better against Cotto the second time around for 3 reasons.

    1. He already knows Cotto;
    2. Floyd is moving around the ring more since the Ortiz fight, probably attributed to Sr. and,
    3. He isn't taking breaks. He will come into his May 2014 fight in phenomenal shape raising the question when his prime really is.

    I'm sure the company would survive without him.

    Why does Floyd need consoling?

    Ellerbe never had to pick him up off the foor.

    Of course. Just like how Apple is surviving without Steve Jobs. It's doing great but Steve Jobs really made it flourish from ground up
    Steve is as invaluable to Apple as Lenny is to Mayweather Promotions
