Well yes but I was being kind to VITLAY for a change. If you listen to his fans they actually think there's a bigger case for VITLAY retiring Lewis than Rahman retiring VITLAY, which as you point out is utter bull**** as Lewis actually has the win.

Yes, at least 5 times...because he was owned by Rahman without even fighting him.

Vitali achieved about as much as someone like Mike Weaver, so you have a case there. But Lewis?? Don't be ridiculous. He'll be remembered 50 years from now.

Yes, it actually is. If Lewis thought Vitali was an easy opponent to fight in a rematch for A LOT of money he'd would've taken the fight. I don't think he believed he could win & he didn't want to jepardize he legacy & standing as an ATG.

Losing a rematch really wouldn't have affected his legacy and standing as an ATG.

Hell, it'd make him more like the guys considered the top HWs in history if he fought on too long when he was a shell of his former self.

Interesting comparison of Vitali and Hercules.

    Let's compare the two:

Weaver: gave PRIME Holmes hell, Holmes never rematched Weaver in a title bout, even though Holmes was champ until 1985 and Weaver had a WBA belt.

Vitali: gave old, undertrained, inactive for a year Lewis hell. Lewis didn't rematch Vitali, preferring to stay retired.

    Advantage: Weaver

Weaver: won WBA title by dethroning undefeated champ John Tate by knocking him unconscious with a left hook, leaving him flat on his face.

Vitali: won WBC title by beating 39 year old, inactive for a year, overweight Corrie Sanders.

    Advantage: Weaver

Weaver: beat top 10 (Ring ranked) guys Scott Ledoux, Tate, Gerrie Coetzee, Carl Williams (who'd just arguably beaten Holmes) drew with Michael Dokes

Vitali: beat Golf Sanders, Kirk Whale Johnson, Danny Williams.

    Advantage in Quality Wins: Weaver

    Accomplishments:

    Weaver > Vitali

    It's this:

    L TKO 9 Chris Byrd

    L TKO 6 Lennox Lewis

Interesting post, Thread Stealer. Mike Weaver gets overlooked sometimes. Thanks for the reminder.
