We saw last night Williams get knocked down four times. At least three of those were after getting tagged by shots he shouldnt have been anywhere near hurt by. Is his chin completely gone after damage from the Andrade fight or was he unlucky? Maybe he kept being caught off-balance? Is there another explaination? Side-note: CEJ is a tool, i hope he gets starched in the near future, shouldve been deducted points for all that running about the ring in the final round.
I th I think it's safe to say something was up. Jr isn't known for having a ramrod jab but it had Williams on the floor. I could see one or two being off balance knock downs they didn't look like big power shots to me.
Possibly nerves? Or possibly a fix. Who knows. But even though Eubank won last night, In reality he lost. He ran away for 8 rounds.
Nothing was up, beyond Williams being a chronic ****-up who loves to lose his bigger fights. He had a rocky start against Andrade, too, before getting warmed up. If he really was a stone over the weight a week before the fight, so what? That's just a ****-up ****ing up.
He took an awful lot of flush heavy shots in his previous fight against Andrade which was something I was concerned about going into this fight. And they weren't jabs they were big hooks, uppercuts and southpaw lefts. Much bigger shots than those innocuous looking ones CEJ dropped him with so it's rather odd. We've seen CEJ tee-off with dozens of power punches in quick succession on previous opponents many times before and not put them over. He's never been a particularly concussive puncher.
I think he's one of those fighters that starts with a lot of nervous energy and can get caught cold. Having said that something wasn't right about the way he went down 3 times and more worrying for m was the constant blinking after he took a shot.
Williams hasn't got a good chin and usually bad stamina, not world level durability. Smith showed us that. Andrade Vs Eubank Jr next.
What you mean after a shot, he blinks and rolls his eyes to the back of his head constantly when you see him at presses or anywhere , i have asked a few times if he's always had a squint like that, but nobody answers , it's always worrying to see a fighter squinting/blinking like liam does, is it a squint he's always had, or not? Toddles Off to check early fights..
Well, two of the three (legitimate) knockdowns were Williams getting timed with counter jab-cum-hooks around the corner as he was mid-step attempting to register his own jab. It's not always about the size of the shot (Miguel Cotto hit Josh Clottey with some bigger shots than the jab he put him down with, for instance).
blinking after being hit flush I don't recall seeing him blink like that before but I'm not his biographer
I don't think he's shot but he should probably be fighting at a lower weight. He looked small last night and Eubank looked like a super middleweight which he is. I think he's always squinted.
