is he the second coming of calslappy? he had a severely undersized, chinny, old man rigo in front of him and he could not wobble or knock him down. i think his footwork is not allowing him to fully plant his feet and really hurt his opponents. if loma had more pop i would be sold. floyd mayweather at the lighter weights was blasting people like corrales, gatti, hatton etc etc. before you call this a hater thread i give loma mad props for his footwork, defense and speed but i would like to see some power before i crown him the second coming. can mikey and bud walk through him? they are naturally bigger men and might make vasyl look like rigo if they were ever to meet up.
When he actually sits down on some shots, he's got some pop. Nobody had ever kept Rocky Martinez on the canvas with headshots, but Lomachenko did it. He just doesn't do it often enough. His punching technique generally leaves something to be desired, and that's going to be a troublesome factor in terms of making him a star. His performances might be dominant, but they're not wowing crowds or engendering too much casual buzz.
he as improved it quite a bit since is pro debut. He as enough power to set back and get respected and ko careless opponents. So thats not featherfisted.
Loma sits down on his punches more as the fight goes on. When he is certain of what he can sit down on, and his opponent is tired and confused. Have you ever seen a full bullfight? Most people only see the last part, the coup de grace. Not the first two parts. It is the same with the matador. The matador does not take on the bull at full strength. He weakens and confuses the bull first. This is what Loma was doing to Rigo. Rigo quit when he felt the punches were getting too hard and he saw no way out. Loma's own answer to this question is at 1:25. This content is protected
He's got average power, but, its the amount he throws that hurt(usually to the same spot of the body). That double jab is exceptional.
Loma has average power. When Rigo gets dropped it's because he got timed and countered though. Loma creates the openings. He doesn't often counter people coming in.
He really sat down on his punches vs Martinez and we all know how that ended. But Loma usually starts loading up more as the fight goes on to the later rounds.
Fair point ain’t got nothing to do with hating just sating facts is all,not everyone can have both like a Suger Ray
His power is under rated. If you look the pattern of his fights he starts cautiously while he works his opponent out then he likes to display his footwork speed and combinations. He then increase the power as the fight goes by. We haven't been seeing his full power because these guys are pulling out before they are getting their medicine. We saw this in his 2nd fight when he almost stopped Salido in the 12th.
Not at all he can punch a bit when he sits down on his shots. He's not a huge puncher but he does have good power when he wants to use it. He prefers to throw light shots and combos a lot of the time, but when the mood takes him he'll put his weight behind shots too. His body shots in particular are heavy and hurtful when he decides to sink them in with some venom. There is no featherweight division in the WSB* Your old rival Vasyl Lomachenko was in action, obviously you’ve done 10 rounds with him, what is it like to box him? He’s got that many plans in his head. He’s just the most intelligent boxer I’ve ever boxed. He plans three or four moves ahead. He’ll do a feint, you’ll see him do the feint and he’s just judging what you’re going to do. Later on in the fight you might have forgot about it but he’ll do that feint again knowing what your reaction’s going to be and he’ll counter it. He’s very accurate, his punches are very accurate. He doesn’t waste any shots. He caught me with some good body shots as well. He’s more like a correct hitter than a massive power puncher. But enough about Lomachenko, the only guy to beat him [in the amateurs] Albert Selimov, I stopped him. I knocked him out. I was ringside for that as well… It wasn’t like he was beating me, it was a close fight and I stopped him. I could have won that on points. Three back hands in a row and he got like a double cut. And I just pointed it out to the referee that he was cut [laughs]! He has put the draining defeats to Lomachenko behind him and moved up to his natural weight category, 64kgs. “At the time it was devastating because I felt like I didn’t perform well. Because he was so good it made me feel like I did rubbish but looking back on it now, I got two fights out of the way, 10 rounds with him. He won a world title about three or four fights later. He was at that level already. That’s all I can take from it. Second fight I did a lot better than the first fight. It’s a positive. He was literally at a world class standard then. He should have won it in the second fight against [Orlando] Salido. “Watching it back as well, first minute I’d be throwing about 50 shots, one-two, one-two. Maybe [Lomachenko] would throw five shots but he’d look like he was winning the round. Even to me watching it, he looks like he’s winning the round even though I’m throwing all the shots. His ringcraft, he puts you where he wants you, he knows when to go, when to not go. He’s just brilliant,” Maxwell continued. “I’d love to be able to do that. Winning the round by slipping and pushing me where he wants me to go without throwing a shot. “He must feel unbeatable. It was at 61kgs, so I was drained as anything. After one or two rounds I started feeling the pace then. This year I’m at the right weight, I’m feeling good and strong so that’s not going to happen to me this time.” Andrew Selby on facing Loma This content is protected Loma opted to use his power more in the GRJ fight than he has in some others. He landed some withering body shots, and some really nice hooks and uppercuts in that one. This content is protected
Ask Rocky Martinez if Lomachenko can punch! Yes, whenever he sits down on his punches he hits hard, but he varies his power.......................timing fantastic, etc.
The amount of times I've seen this recently.. Loma doesn't chose to load up on punches, he chooses to throw a combination with speed If you've sparred you know a fast combination, even just a quick 1-2, Can stun you and get your attention Just because he doesn't windmill about or get many 1 punch KOs it doesn't mean he's feather fisted at all
