Yeah, he stayed in amateurs too long. most likely target was to get 2 Olympic Gold medals. If he had turned in a pro after he get first Olympic Gold medal, he might had more pro fights under belt. Maybe at least 8 more pro fights if he had fought 2X in 1 year. If 3X in 1 year then he today had 12 pro fights more on pro resume. Some amateur suprestars had been very active during their first years in pros. Maske in 2 first years of his pro career had 14 pro fights during these first 2 years, Maske then had boxed in US, U.K, France and Germany. Only after he was a pro 2 years he started to fight only in Germany because they needed very huge tickets seller in Germany. Maske marquee fight in amateurs was World Championship in Soviet Union : he had defeated Cuban superstar in final, a guy who does have World Championship 2X Gold 1X Silver medals, 2X Pan American Games Gold and this lad had defeated Holyfield in amateur rank fight ( Pan Am Games ).
Watch Salido-Loma again. It's a very close fight even with all the fouling Salido did and the poor refereeing. Pay no attention to the conmentary in many cases either. Lomachenko has a good case for a draw 6-6 in rounds, maybe even edging it 7-5, on clean punches. Some bouts need a few rewatches. Don't go on memory, watch bouts again. Didn't Loma have something like a 396-1 amateur record? That's an ATG boxing talent for sure. In the pros, he may need to do a little more, granted. I remember Rigo was heavily favored on boxing forums by many to beat Loma, maybe knock him out or break his jaw... We didn't hear too much more from them afterwards...
Well, for fight vs Russel Jr Loma was underdog because Russel Jr then had 24-0-0 pro boxing record, Loma 2 pro fights under belt. Rigo ofc always had been valued highly, his amateur resume is outstanding.
I fancied Lomachenko to beat Russell and he did quite clearly. I thought Loma would beat Rigo by decision.
Rigo btw does have 2 Olympic Gold medals, 2 X World Gold and 3X World Cup Gold medals. He had also 17-0-0 ? pro record before fight vs Loma, if I'm correct.
Gervonta will not fight him. Teofimo will not give the rematch. Haney will not fight him. Ryan Garcia will not fight him. None of the big names in the division want to fight Lomachenko. In reality, the L for Teofimo Lopez put Loma's career in a coffin, because it'll take years for him to comeback to the level he was before the Lopez fight and the ukrainian is already 33 years old. If he had not lost, he could risk himself in a fight against Taylor to become undisputed at 140. Lomachenko's entire career is ill advised, which is a shame, because he's a great boxer.
he can remedy all of that. swallow his pride, humble himself before teos demands, then go and beat the **** out of him and get it all back. not just all of it, now hes stepping into first ballot territory. this would be his signature win to this point. i wouldnt make excuses for a man in his 30s.
You are an idiot. Foreman told that he value his Olympic Gold medal as his marquee achievement. If you will **** here on achievements in amateur ranks, you **** here on Patterson, Ali, Foreman, Frazier, Holyfield, Oscar ( DLH), Ward and on large, damn large bunch of pro boxers from Mexico, US, Western Europe, U.K not only on some hated by you EE boxers and I do feel that you HATE all EE boxers. ALL of them not only Loma! So how you value US boxers Olympic medals and their medals at World Championships? You maybe tell your noise you post here to Foreman or DLH or Ward in the face here. Rush to talk with Holyfield that amateur boxing is **** and please do this in person with him.
