is Lomachenko overrated fighter?

He's just too small at the upper weights

He moved up 3 divisions and took two guys took decisions that could easily be scored either way. Both those guys moved up and easily dismantled the two kingpins of that division. I'd say he's starting to become underrated.

 

Yes, he is flashy.

 

I don't think skillfully hes overrated but regarding his boxing IQ yes that's overrated, hes made some awful tactical errors in big fights that's cost him.

He did virtually nothing vs Lopez for first 6 rounds and gave away that fight, and even though I thought Loma beat Haney why did he cruise in later rounds ? Especially when he had his best round prior to that ?

 

He's very good, he's clearly elite, but he's not as good as his fans think that he is. He is not as good as he himself thinks he is either.

 

He's overrated because I grade on a scale. ESPN, Bob Arum and ESB told me that Loma was the most skilled fighter of all time. So yea, he's overrated AF. Most overrated and overhyped fighter of my lifetime.

 

His best win is a 37 year old Bantamweight. Let that sink in. That does not sound like the best fighter of all time.

 

100% this. In terms of ability, he is an ATG, but his ring IQ, much like Golovkin, leaves something to be desired. They don't shift gears on the fly and take too much time to adapt. Their fundamentals are perfect, but they don't have the craftiness of a pro boxer. Usyk never had this issue and he will rightfully be seen as the greatest Eastern European fighter down the line, maybe even the best of this era as a whole.

 

Lomachenko is a good fighter but he’s managed to inadvertently produce the most deluded fanboys. He lost to Lopez clear as day, the Haney fight could have gone either way, and the Sallido fight was unfortunate. He was also gifted early title shots.

 

No other fighter since early GGG was more overrated and at least GGG made MW title history as well as arguably beat Canelo at least once to justify the hype, something Beterbiev still hasn't done. sLomo's career is different as he fought some solid B- to B+ champs and came up good vs. tiny Rigo, old Linares, that cat Walters who had 15 minutes of fame and Campbell, solid if no elite run.

But he also LOST to various styles, ages & substances and fangirls keep ignoring the WAY 15-loss old pocket sized swarmer Saliddadio took him to professional school or how green young Lopez OUTBOXED him from the outside or how no-punch Haney outhustled him. Loma's skills pay some B+ bills to pick up some ABC belts (most title opportunities bought and paid for by Bob Arum, never earning them in the ring via ranking and elimination events), but his losses that keep coming show why he was never able to clean out any division and I pray the Gervonta fight happens so we see what happens when his defensive deficits meets a real puncher his size. Not gonna end well.

Look: Loma DOES look great on TikTok, and some of you can't see past the flashy stuff, no surprise about that, the crop of boxing fans is not the same as before. But any objective run thru his 17-3 professional career measured up against the chorus of fangirls who think he's the current, undefeated P4P king that would handle prime Floyd's arse, and you know the answer how overrated he is. He's like the Doja Cat of boxing.

 

How did Beterbiev figure into all this?

 

Honestly? He''s an elite level fighter who has committed the unpardonable sin of coming from a non significant market without a large lucrative following to exploit. This has led him seeking his fortune in the sadly corrupt world of pro boxing without the requisite insurance that comes with the correct passport. If he was American he'd have won the fights he lost and anyone challenging his status as an ATG would've been shouted down remorselessly. He's not, so his opponents get the benefir of the doubt with low blows etc and close rounds mysteriously go in the direction of the guy the promoters can make more money out of.

 

Notice the word "overrated" in the title, indicating a vastly overzealous general opinion of a fighter with no elite substance to back it up. If Oleksandr Gvozdyk and Jorge Linares is the best you've ever beaten, you are not an elite P4P-er, cause one truly earns such ranking vs. other P4P-ers, and if you are called one, then you are overrated. Like Beterbiev.
