I don't think so. Loma beats everyone 126/135 except TEO. Kid is something else. Loma just faced his kryptonite every fighter has one or two. For Loma his kryptonite is T-LO!!
Why so little talk (if any) last night about a rematch ? This was a much closer fight than the scores reflected. ( 11-1 ???) Loma took too long to get started, but when he did, I thought he demonstrated the superior skills. He was clearly awed somewhat by the size difference, the biggest since Salido. I'd like to see a rematch, maybe a trilogy.
Guys look extra ordinary when they have all the athletic, and size advantages over opponents. He is a tad over rated. At 135 the guys are his size, and some have similar athleticism to his. At 126, and 130, he always had the athletic advantage, and the size advantage. At 135, the size advantage is gone, and the athletic advantage is gone with young guys like Lopez, and Haney. So he struggles when they have some skill also. He's good. Had he stayed at 126 he'd be thought of as an all time great. He'd have ran through Panty Cruz.
Imo Loma didn't took long to start, he was just very alert and afraid to let his hands go because of the power Lopez has in the earlier rounds.
I agree. I think a rematch would be even more entertaining since Loma would know he had to take it to Lopez from the opening bell - go straight into the lion's den. It's not like there's much action in the division otherwise, since they've pretty much cleaned it out between them.
Lomachenko was already labeled an ATG by some. Styles make fights, but Pernell Whitaker, a certified ATG, would have right-hooked Lopez, he of the low guard, into the canvas, for example.
He was by a lot of people. But it seems like the word overrated has taken a new meaning because people go ballistic when you call someone that. You could be the best ever and be overrated. He's a very good fighter, but he was anointed too early.
That is possibly the REASON he took so long to start. But he did eventually "start," and won at least four rounds decisively in the second half.
So an Olympic Gold Medalist x2 in 2 different weights World Championship Gold medalist x 2 Val Barker trophy winner 3 weight pro world champion, unified champ , in record times. etc etc Wouldn't even win an Golden gloves competition? Sure. The funny thing is... you are a pakistani!. Lomachenko has had more success and ability in his little toe than every pakistani boxer ever has had COMBINED! LOL How did Quais Ashfaq do last night? LOL
Loses to a top quality fighter that’s a natural welterweight and all of a sudden he’s overrated. Boxing fans can be some of the dumbest people around sometimes.
It's all relative to who you're talking to. Of course he's overrated by some talking about the greatest EVER! But that's probably just a bunch of Ukrainian kids lol. He's still one hell of a boxer.
