Only by his over the top fans. Boxing fans that follow the sport hold Loma in high regard and rightfully so. Great talent. But when you get fools saying after only 3-4 fights, he would beat the likes of Whitiker or Duran, you gotta route for his defeat.

Can't believe some of you had this guy as the worlds best boxer above Fury and Canelo.

Basically he took too long to turn over to the pro game.

This whole thread is an abomination, the amount of fangirls on it shivering literally wet with delight, all because they get a chance to pile on and do their fangirl thing, calling Loma overrated. Because Loma came into a match after 14 months off, with no tune up against a far bigger opponent with a far bigger punch than anyone he's shared the ring with and fought way too cautiously, practically giving the match away on a silver platter, yet remembered who he was by the 7th, and took over the Takeover after that, and is now being considered overrated because of it. Anyone who thinks such a thing is an embarrassment as a fan. Even great fighters make mistakes and miscalculations. And yes... from time to time, I know it's shocking.... they lose.

Before you start thoughtlessly throwing out the term overrated, ask yourselves.......

DOES THAT NOW APPLY TO CANELO ALVAREZ? He gave up 7 rounds to a shot Kovalev. He lost 7 rounds to Trout and Lara, and was outboxed by Golovkin twice.

DOES THAT NOW APPLY TO ANDRE WARD? He lost the first 6 and was dropped by Kovalev. Not to mention, arguably should have a draw with Sakio Bika.

DOES THAT NOW APPLY TO MANNY PACQUIAO? Who got ragdolled for half a fight by Horn. And lost a half a dozen times.

DOES THAT NOW APPLY TO CARL FROCH? He had countless come from behind late KO's.

DOES THAT NOW APPLY TO RIGONDEAUX? Who needed a KO to win over Julio Ceja.

DOES THAT NOW APPLY TO WLADIMIR KLITSCHKO? Who got KO'd 4 times and dominated by Fury.

Grow up. A loss for Loma doesn't mean a win in your childish proxy propaganda wars. You're a fan, nothing more, stop living vicariously through your heroes and the legend narratives you've built up around them. They're humans, not Gods. They will fail and let you down, that's what humans do. And besides... none of them know who any of us are.

No he isn't remotely overrated, if anything his main flaw is, he's an overachiever. He should have never moved to Lightweight, but even then... he almost cleaned out and unified the entire division.

Maybe a bit. We’ve now seen there’s a particular style he struggles against. But similarly he’s very undersized at that weight too and is at worst now the number 2 in that division. I’m not sure how many other guys are fighting at that level whilst likely being able to make two weights below the one they’re fighting at.

I did. Hindsight is 20/20. I would not have been swayed otherwise before Saturday's fight. Loma was making fighters quit.

Loma is sublimely talented, but as of now Loma moves below Canelo, Fury, and maybe Crawford. Most greats lose at some point. It's not the end of the world. He certainly has the potential to win the rematch.

Whoever claimed that was incredibly biased though. He's among the most skilled fighters ever yes but he is not a H2H best ever like some idiots would claim.

Yes but people were calling him the best p4p after only 11-12 fights. It's too soon.

Loma hasn't made 126 in almost 5 years. Im sure he never fights at that weight ever again. Its too big of a weight cut at 33 years old. Walking around at 145lbs 30 days out should be a dead giveaway.

Maybe he will go down to 130 but I see him staying at 135 for the rest of his career... Mikey Garcia in theory could go back down to 135 , but I doubt that will ever happen either..

I don’t think he’ll go to 126, but I think he probably could if he really needed to. I agree that 130 is more realistic, I suppose it depends where the money is. He’s still a major player at 135 for me

Well, he was still a massive favourite to defeat Lopez the other night, so either he was very overrated or Lopez was very underrated. Or a bit of both.

Obviously when people are calling a fighter with 16 (or 22, depending if you count WSB) professional fights an "elite ATG" and "p4p ATG" it's likely a special fighter but also some serious overrating goin on.

You know, you're probably right. Loma wasn't even fighting at 135 after his 4th fight. But I know some of his over the top fans have made those statements. Good catch.
