Probably the best Amatuer ever. I'm a Loma fan but hold your horses please. The guy only has a handful of pro fights. I think he can really cement his legacy at 130 and become an ATG off what he does there but the rest of that talk is pre-mature.
Yeah, pretty much this. Right now, his best win remains Russell Jr. (though Martinez would now be his most impressive performance). And you don't get ATG/TBE status on the basis of that win alone.
Greatest amateur and imo the most talented and complete fighter ever. But as Pimp C says he needs to cement a legacy in the professional ranks, although after 7 fights being a 2 weight champion is a red hot way to start the ball rolling.
The trajectory of his pro boxing career has been insane. Grant it.....Lomo is not the typical blue chip prospect....he's a 2 time olympic champion and much older than most Olypic boxers who turn pro. So that is something I account for to balance out my opinion about Lomo's historic professional entry into the sport. I don't think a 21 year old Lomachenko would have been ready for the pace he set for himself at 25 or 26. Regardless of anything, the skills are undeniable. Does he have all of those other intangible traits we look for in scouting future great boxers? Those questions will be answered in time... He has to be tested....The Solido fight was telling because it was a huge test and even though he lost, he showed that he has some grit.
Reminds of the heyday of Donaire & Pac... On these forums with the GGG & Loma hype that is happening here. Peeps becoming a bit delusional.
- Greatest amateur ever - Best amateur ever Roy Jones Jr only fought two ATG's during his prime, Toney and Hopkins and the way he performed against them and other elite fighters was unbelievable. I believe Roy Jones Jr is THE BEST EVER (not greatest ever). This content is protected if he fights a long string of good competition in spectacular style. Can he be the greatest ever? Probably not.
He is the best amateur fighter the world has ever seen so far. As for the pros he is probably the best fighter with just 8 pro fights the world has ever seen, but far too early to say that he is the best fighter ever, both at the pros and the amateurs. Anyway! I am looking forward to his next outings in the ring and take my hat off to him for his impressive race through the pro ranks.A hell of a bloody good fighter he is!:good
As an amateur? Arguable though there are a couple of guys who I think are 3x gold? So I dunno... I think 3x gold is perhaps more impressive than an unreliable amateur record. As a pro? No, nowhere close probably never will be if I'm honest. BTW threads like this don't really help to elevate the fighter you like, usually the opposite happens.
