Amateurs at the top level, train like TOP professionals. Take team GB for example. They train 3 times per day, compete regularly, have regular sparring against other teams, The have top coaches, nutritionists, S&C coaches, physios, sport psychologies and excellent training facilities. Many countries have similar set ups. Loosing one bout in nearly 400 contests at this level against "amateur" boxers is a tremendous achievement.
He needs to get used to a 12 round fight. Have him do that for a couple of fights and I'll back him against anyone.
well that's what most people are trying to get at. Let him fight a few 12 rounders against seasoned pros and then we'll have a better understanding on him :smooch
I'm not saying he needs a test to prove himself or anything, I'm just saying that he needs to know how to pace himself and get some fight conditioning for twelve rounds. He's got the skills to dominate anyone in the pro game right now imo.
From what ive seen of Selimov in the WSB, he's not looked very good under pro rules. I think Lomacheko's going to give him a whipping tbh.
He's won every round and forced eight counts on his opponents, I think he's looked as good as Lomachenko under WSB.
I think we need to see more of that chin...look at Rigondeaux, amateur legend yet hes getting knocked down by jabs and being rocked by journey men. If his chin is solid hes gonna be awesome.
It's called an adjustment period. Gamboa got dropped a lot early in his pro career as well. Thus far neither he nor Rigondeaux have been defeated, let alone stopped. Until they do, past tumbles can't be attributed to glass jaws instead of simply balance issues & transitional growing pains.
