Is Luis Collazo better then the fighters Mayweather fought?

I'll take your thread at face value, but it still doesn't cut it. Like it or not, Zab was still a good name at that point and the fight was all but made.

Moreover, no one knew who Collazo was at that point, he had no resume - he was handpicked by Hatton as an easy route to WW belt (wrongly, as it turned out).

Floyd would have been SHREDDED for fighting him over Zab or Baldomir at that point. Not to mention, there'd be little tv interest in it. Even if you thought Collazo "deserved" it based on skill (VERY debateable) the fight still didn't make sense.
