That sounds about right. It was a better era for heavyweights, there was greater strength in depth than there is now, although even then people complained that it had declined considerably from the heyday of the 70's.

Bonecrusher would knock him out, so would Ruddock.

The 80s had more talent than the 70s. The issue was with good matchups being made and fighters coming in at 100%. Same issues today.

Its like asking would Mick Moorer be the best guy on Tyson's record had he beaten him.

No , and Moorer had a better resume than Kong.

Still , Kong is pretty good and i could see him beating Moorer.

mike tyson categorically never defended against anyone as bad as that. Even his 38 year old was an ATG.

wilders best.....is worse than tysons worst, by a long way.

I nearly put 70s and 80s but I think things tailed off a little towards the end of that decade?

What did Mike Tyson do to you OP?

Sure that is plausible maybe if you lopped 10 years off Ortiz's age. But Windmills fought Ortiz at 40yrs old, and barely sanctioned due to his heart condition. That's kind of embarrassing ya know?

I'll take Tyson's win over a 38 year old ATG Larry Holmes over Wilder's win over a 38 year old never was in Ortiz.

Ortiz loves to get made out to be the boogie man of the division based on his win over Jennings. People conveniently forget he looked bad in his recent wins and how shallow his resume really is. Ortiz is a good win for Wilder but let's not pretend Ortiz is definitively any better than Spinks, Tucker or Ruddock.

    Tucker out boxes Ortiz 8-4, 8-4, 7-5

Did you miss Ortiz-Scott, Ortiz-Allen, Tucker too mobile for Ortiz. Ortiz has a hard time cutting off the ring and needs to plant his feet for power, Tucker keeps the fight long and wins.

This. I've been a big fan of both Ortiz and Wilder for years, but Tucker and even Bonecrusher Smith would both knock Ortiz out.

Would Ortiz defeat Tysons Opponents as easy?

    No.
