This. What a ridiculous thread. Plenty of the non champions that Tyson beat would clown Jennings such as Jose Ribalta, Marvis Frazier, Mitch Green, James Tillis, and Carl Williams and would give Ortiz all he would handle if not beat him and I say this as an Ortiz fan, but the talent in the heavyweight division was much higher back then.

Ortiz best achievement was impressively helping Castro and Che Guevara free Cuba in the revolution in the 50's. So yes better than anything Tyson has done. lol.

Don't downplay his achievements in the *revolution. For an elderly man he made an impressive effort.

I dribble a lot of nonsense on here, the majority tolerate me like they would a old mad Uncle and just leave me to drone on.

But even in my most demented moments I'm not sure I said something as ridiculous as that.

we have to see what ortiz does from here

as has been said his best win was against average fighters with no power

    jennings his best win

ortiz as well was shorter than i thought he is 6.2 and not the 6.4 as advertised

tony tubbs had a style to give ortiz problems fast hands /good jab

tony tucker the size and chin to give ortiz a hatrd fight

bonecrusher smith the power and chin to be in with a good chance

    bruno the jab and power

ribalta and quick tillis as good as jennings

berbick was built weird / upper body built like ortiz with legs like hearns at welter

michael spinks looked good at heavy to he faced tyson

ortiz win column resume is paper thin compared to tyson `s

Jennings was much better than Tillis and Ribalta. He beat Perez, Spilzka, and lost 8-4 to Wlad.

Jennings is a heck of an athlete, but he isn't better than Tillis or Ribalta. Perez is a complete scrub, since he couldn't even beat Takam or Briedis. Beating a Perez mean nothing, since even Whyte and Pulev would easily beat Perez.

Szpilka at his best is fast and a decent southpaw, but wouldn't make it to the top 20 during Mike's prime. Also, Jennings was barely competitive against a shot Wlad for 12 straight rounds. Tillis had power and was way more experienced than Jennings was and would've put up a much better fight against Wlad.

    Ribalta taking Tyson's fire power.

    Tillis taking Tyson's firepower.

Jennings getting easily stopped after being timed by the same uppercut three times. Tyson would've knocked Jennings out cold and would not go the distance with Malik Scott.

Jennings has only lost to top heavyweights. Can’t say the same for Ribalta and Tillis.

tillis fought an absolute whos who of top 10 heavies over many years and was one of the best journeyman at heavy

tillis took rounds of a young hungry tyson and took him the distance

jennings is a trier like tillis / but has no power /height overall abilty to be anything more than tillis was.

    ribalta again the same

ribalta at the time he fought tyson had ambition and heart / tillis had know how/experience and ring smarts

i think the tyson that fought tillis and ribalta would have walked through jennings and ktfo jennings

as i said IMO they were much of a muchness

Tillis was basically a professional sparring partner by the time he fought Tyson. His m.o. by then was to not get hurt while losing he was five years past it.

    Ribalta was never anything much.

Jennings was borderline top 5 when Ortiz beat him up. No comparison.
