All we've been hearing for the longest time now was how this was the big-hitter in the stacked HW division. On tonight's performance, I wouldn't have him in the top 5. So poor at closing the distance there. Winding up one-punch and not throwing any follow-ups. He looked like old George Foreman in there, with the same tactics and less power to do so. Can't see any circumstance under which Fury, Wilder, Joshua, Povetkin, Wlad or even Parker would lose to him. Was tonight just a bad performance? If so, why?
Wouldn't say he's an outright "fraud" per se. The guy had a very solid amateur pedigree. He's just got major weaknesses that haven't been exposed by the right opponents yet (on the Pro circuit).
He's nowhere close to comeback Foreman mate. Old Foreman would have punched Scott clean out of the ring.
A fraud no, but too many saw the wins over Jennings and Thompson and hyped him too much based off those fights. Fact is Ortiz is a dangerous fighter if you take the fight to him or are too stationary a target and allow him to dictate the pace of the fight. But Scott showed, he has flaws like any other fighter. If he's matched more carefully he could still look good. I still see him as one of the better contenders, up there with the likes of Parker but he'd be an underdog for me against Wilder, Fury, Wlad and Joshua.
Ortiz has a good combo of speed and power ,however hes a easy to read southpaw which if one trains correctly can survive him. Counter right hands is the key to knocking this guy out. Joshua as I predicted a while back will do so, not because Ortiz is over hyped but Joshua is that good, ortiz can be a head ache for many others though,i think hes still top 5 but wasn't sold on him against the big 3,or the big three in my eyes...Wlad/Joshua/ Fury. when a Ortiz fights a well experienced guy with enough time to train you see what or hopw some fights are difficult even for him, those who have k.od those other experienced fighters deserve much more credit than most give them.
