Good call. I don't think he was more rugged at all, but he was among the more Floyd has faced.

Maidana in the first Floyd fight was the true definition of "rugged."

maidana is a tough as nails beast. one of my dream fights would be maidana-duran....i'll never forget the victor ortiz fight...that's when i learned respect for marcos. he gets hurt and dropped like in the oritz, lopez, broner and khan fights, but usually finds a way to recover and impose himself .

im not really sure what rugged means though im assuming it means gritty and tough, willing to take all your punishment just to land a bit of his own. and to me chavez ranks higher up especially when you factor in mayweather was alot more offensive minded and gifted back then with more athleticism and greater punching power.

Yeah good rationale. Despite sounding like a know-it-all in that post, I don't know what exactly "rugged" means in a boxing sense either.

aummm, fights are scored round by round. the ONLY fight in floyds pro career i would had been ok with a D or even a close L was the first chino fight.

some of you guys are so clueless on scoring fights, people who keep claiming jlc won prove they dont know what they are watching and dont know anything about scoring.

floyd won the first 5 rounds clearly, then won the 11th and 12th clearly. just because jlc made the middle to late rounds close (the rounds floyd usually dominates, when not INJURED) people think someone winning 4/5 rounds means they won.

i would LOVE to see your scoring for the first jlc fight, just to show you how clueless you are. what people fail to realize and or understand is the 2nd jlc fight was actually closer, not just on the scorecards

If you mean chin, yes. Maidana has never been stopped, despite having fought Victor Ortiz. He was caught flush 3 times by Ortiz, and got up each time.

You can't expect these people to be logical or consistent.

I've long posted what you have said here.

Mayweather won the first 5 rounds. Clear. So I'd love to see people genuinely say that Castillo won the remaining 7 rounds. That would be comical.

I will say I disagree with your last statement. I think the first Castillo fight was both closer in scoring and overall competitiveness.

Emanuel Agustus until Maidana was probably the toughest fight I seen him in.

good call, the awkward fighters tend to make floyd work harder than all the others

ohh. I guess I'll try to define rugged. it's used so often in boxing that I kind of just had a definition in my head anyways.

    a combination of...
    - Tough
    - Dirty
    - Durable
    - Aggressive
    - Willing to eat a punch to give one
    - Strong

I think that's probably all the words that are in my head when I hear or say "rugged"

Your right. Floyd is used to fighting fighters who move with a choreograph rhythm. (If they move like this, they will hit like that, and if they hit like this then they will move like that) With awkward fighters unpredictability is one of their advantages. Which is why he has problems with them.
