Seems like he has pop but there are some people on here that think he is the second coming of George Foreman... I dont think making Ortiz quit and making Amir wobble constitutes the praise he gets for his power, he has awesome heart and is a tough sob but his power is strongly over rated by some posters on here

big gap between a power puncher and a foreman, maidana hits hard, look at the faces of his previous opponents - he disfigures them, he trained only 7 weeks for morales compared ti his normal 12, came in flabby against DV - was clear before the fight, he came in flabby against corley aswell, poor finisher

He hits hard but his problem will always be a lack of technique. You can punch like a mule kicks but unless you have the technique to land well placed, well timed shots, you aren't going to hurt most boxers.

    Agreed.

Matthysse > Maidana just look at both their fights against Corley. Matthysse dropped him 9 times and Maidana once. Marcos is a 4 round fighter after that his handspeed and power decrease and he pushes his punches for the most part.

And I know there is a huge difference it just feels like some people think there is not another person at 140 ever that could take this guy toe to toe

Neither of the options in the poll, I agree Matthysee has more power, especially as a body puncher.

maidana was flabby as a 140 fighter could be vs corley, mathysse is more accurate with superior technique, if he also had more power how did judah go past 8, if he had everything superior to maidana he would rule 140 right now

Because Maidana stopped Judah? Because Maidana ruled 140? Matthysse beat Judah and Devon imo and may be the best at 140 he just needs the fights. I like Maidana but he should have done better against Con and Morales and his performance against Devon was terrible. People overrate him imo.

    This.

He reminds me a lot like Ricardo Mayorga, not a great 1 punch ko artist but heavy handed.

Alexander took his power well at 147. Morales took his power well at 140. Maidana's power is a little over rated. So what he hurt Khan. Khan never went down. Khan has been knocked the **** out before, and he was just stopped by a guy who isn't supposed to be as hard of a hitter as Maidana.

    Maidana's power is over rated.

Reminds me of a miniature Sam Peter hasn't KOed anyone but Glass Jawed fighters and can't KO the better fighters he faces.
