Has power, speed is another story. He is painfully plodding throwing cumbersome punches.

If Chuvalo had Ali's speed he would have been the goat. Chuvalo > Ali using your logic.

    Matthysse, Allakhverdiev, Provodnikov, Rios, Garcia

Maidana has great power but slow hands. But he's always been more of a volume puncher anyway. The biggest one punch punchers in the last couple decades usually don't get recognized as much because they weren't actually great boxers and they just relied on one huge hand, like Randall Bailey, Alejandro Berrio and Demetrice King.

    :nod

As it happens, there's a guy from Maidana's own country, in his own (natural) weight class, who's AS HARD OR HARDER a raw puncher and actually a more than decent boxer and throws actual grenades with torque on them rather than the volume whacking El Chino does. :deal

Exactly. He can shatter some china chins - but the very fact that he couldn't crack one of the worst glass jaws of all time shows you just HOW absurdly overrated this guy's "power" is.

the **** do you go on about.

I'll give you a Hypothetical argument to make it easy for you to understand.

Just say Someone thinks Floyd has more Raw power than Maidana because he knocked out ortiz in 4, compared to maidana's 6, that would be a wrong statement because with Floyd superior technique and accuracy if he had Maidana's power he would have KO'd most he faced.

Now with the Mathysse comparison with maidana the technique and accuracy can't be compared to Floyd, but still he has superior technique and accuracy than maidana.

    I'll try explaining with numbers

    Maidana Technique 5 + Maidana accuracy - 5 + Maidana Power -8 = 18
    Mathysse Technique 7 + Mathysse accuracy- 7 + (if) Mathysse power - 9 = 23

Do you really think there is that much of a difference between the two overall

Here is my thing and maybe I am wrong but legit savage punchers can KO the better fighters they face. Maidana has not done this. A savage puncher can KO the Class A and B level guys they face. That is what makes them a legit 'puncher'

Maidana has power for sure I am not saying he doesn't and he is a damn exciting fighter to watch but I just think he is a little overrated in the puncher department because as of now he has shown the inability to stop the better fighters he has faced.

Him working with Garcia might make a difference we will have to wait and see :good

Overrated? He went against Victor 26 wins, 25 by ko and he made Ortiz quit...

I'm fine with your power split, but they're separated by a bit more than that on technique & accuracy. I'd have a healthy gap of three...whether that means Maidana 4 on each or Matthysse bumped up to 8. (maybe even 9 in accuracy, at times he really does ship some precision-guided munitions)

So more like a difference of 7 or 8 in their sum scores, rather than 5.

Victor was himself overrated at the time, especially by HBO...

if they were really seperated by that much, Mathysse Would be a P4P fighter, you are drastically overrating Mathysse or Underrating Maidana. If he was that good - how did he lose to Judah (close I know), He should have dominated judah, khan got judah out in 5.

I had him beating Judah. I thought Judah got incredibly scared of his power and ran and spoiled quite a bit. :conf
