He is a fringe level type of fighter masquerading as a top level fighter because the division is weakened now. I dont mind Malignaggi..I like it when he fight ESPN level type fighters because I think he can be fun to watch when he is under to much pressure but when he steps up its just pain for him. Some people overrated him but a lot knew where he was at.
Its been there since Cotto. Against Ngoudjo he lost to the jab all fight long. And Ngoudjo jab actually had something on it. That leaves him with nothing. Clear lost, almost all rounds, meaningfull punch, punchcount and riggeneralship goes to Ngoudjo. The holding was pretty bad in this fight. Even worst against Ndou.
Yeah, but you claimed that he just stuggles against A level fighters. Clearly, he struggles against B level fighters as well.
Your whole argument is based on the fact that he struggled with Ndou fight #2. Paulie destroyed Ndou in fight #1, 120-106. So I can just as easily say he dominated and disgraced a B level fighter. And soon Ngoudjo will be the IBF champ..so I dont rate him as a B fighter, he is a B+ fighter. Paulie however is looking worse and worse. He isnt boxing like he used to, isnt moving and doesnt even throw his fight hand. At one time I would have said he was surely an A fighter, maybe A-. Right now he seems to be at best B+ and most likely B.
whoever said he is done as a fighter knows nothing about the sport or just hates paulie...he lost to a great fighter...the #1 guy...he had a bad fight....he gave cotto a great fight and whitewashed ndou and cherry in title defense...grow the **** up will you
His hands have been ****ed up for a while. It's nothing new. He's talked about retiring because of those hands.
big reg u are better than to say paulie got STOMPED by cotto...he got cut in th first ten seconds which threw him off leading to knockdown and a broken jaw...after that happened the fight was extremely competitive...far from STOMPED
I would say yes. People call Judah a B level fighter. Paulie is about as good as Judah. Actually I think Judah would beat him. They are both similiar in that they were never the best (well Judah technically was the linear champ but there were better guys around they just went up to 154). But point being they are good fighters but not the best, not A quality. They are a stepping stone to be the best. If you beat them that means you are a pretty good fighter.
I know this i have been a fan since he started in the amateurs..but they seemed to be getting better now they see to be worse...maybe it is time to go...he is going to have bigtie problems when he gets older
Paulie won 3 rounds(maybe 4) in that fight and ate a lot of hard shots. Paulie went directly to the hospital after that fight. If you don't like the term stomped fine, he was beaten dicisively. Nothing that happened in that fight would leave me to believe that Paulie could ever beat Cotto.
