I am somewhat new to actually taking more than a passive interest in this sport.

Last Saturday night I went into the fight a Diaz fan and came out a bigger Malignaggi fan.

Due to Malignaggi having broken his right hand 2x , his age (not thats he that old) and his lack of power...

I ask this veteran board, is he done?

    Will he continue on?

Will he get a rematch vs Diaz?

    Thanks.

nah hell be back..... he's a great fighter and he cant punch for **** so he is a perfect measuring stick opponent...

you know... put him in the ring with a young up & comer type of guy... **** he could even fight the big dogs for that same reason... he is a good fighter to have on your resume and he probably wont knock you out

tricky one: against Hatton he fought with only one hand and he was complete and utter shite.

Against Diaz, for once he was the physically bigger man and he did very well.
Trouble is he has no punching power.

If he wants to carry on, he will probably have a good few years making a good salary as a gatekeeper for future prospects to test themselves against.

He doesn't need to rematch Diaz because he has already beaten him.

I definitely don't think so. After the one-sided Hatton fight, i was worried that another one-sided defeat here and he'd be out. But he gave a very good account of himself, in a very close fight and he also created a lot of buzz which is very important.

A lot of people have been talking about the Diaz fight, and i think, because of the suspicion of a robbery it looks even better than if he had just about won. The exaggerated cards against him have had the opposite affect of people rating him more again and have generated a lot of sympathy towards him.

His 'name', which is the most important thing in boxing, is now as big as if he had won a lop-sided fight and i'd say he'll get a couple of more paydays at the very least.

Is that true? No wonder he rarely uses his right

Yup, I have a friend who writes for HBO and interviewed him, and he says since he was a kid he has broken his hand nine times, pretty insane. I'm trying to find the interview to post, but hope you take my word for it.

Paulie still has the talent to make some good fighters look bad.I hope the robbery on Saturday hasn't changed his mind about looking for the big fights.I dont think he'd get a rematch with Diaz, but if it happened i think Paulie would beat him by a bigger margin than he did on Saturday (i had it 115-113 for Paulie)

I do ya. Jesus, i knew he'd broken it a few times but that is ridiculous. I was hoping that he might be able to get it healed correctly at some stage and be able to use it again, but i guess the amount we saw him use it against Diaz is the most it'll ever be.

I don't see why he would hang'em up. He had a great performance against Diaz. He still gots some juice in the tank.

In a way the fact that Malignaggi has little power behind his punches is actually why I respect him and enjoy watching him.

Don't get me wrong, I love power KO's, but for Paulie, he MUST find other ways to try and win fights and that's what makes watching him so entertaining. He likes a real life "little mac"

The Hatton fight was the culmination of his partnership with McGirt and a silly transformation into a different kind of fighter. He's back in NY with Sherif Younan and i'm confident he'll get back to the top of the 140 lbs division. He's not finished and has been calling out Juan Diaz (partly on Facebook - aswell as some brilliant comments about DLH) for a rematch. Lou DiBella has said he either wants Amir Khan or JMM if he loses to Mayweather. He might lack punching power due to his hand injuries but his style doesn't require him to have big KO power IMO.

Paulie's power will actually help him get decent fights as he'll be considered to have no chance of getting a KO.

Beat one of the up and comers well (a la Maidana vs Ortiz), and you put yourself in line for some good fights!!!
