Resume Chatchai Sasakul Lehlo Ledwaba Jorge Julio Marco Antonio Barerra(twice) Erik Morales(twice) Juan Manuel Marquez(win and draw) Oscar Larios Jorge Solis David Diaz Oscar De La Hoya Titles in five weight divisions. Is that enough to rank him among the fifty greatest fighters ever.Borderline yes from me
Yes. With wins over DLH, Hatton and someone like Valero/Juan Diaz (a young guy with a good record, though undoubtedly in 20 years time being the first man to beat Valero will look like you're the first man to beat Foreman!!!) culd see Pacman as high as top 20 IMO. He'll be put in the same category as guys like Henry Armstrong and Sam Langford, a P4P fighter whose power carried up in weight. I can HONESTLY say I think Pacman will beat DLH now. If I'm wrong, I can take that. I was wrong about Katsidis-Casamayor and I was wrong about Marquez (ti guve two recent examples) but I just think Pacqiuao might be an anomaly; that for once, we might just have a fighter we can compare to the greats. And I'm no Pacman nuthugger, it just seems to me that's the way he's heading. To give you an idea of what kinda' boxing fan I am, I scored Pacman-Marques 2 115-112 in favour of Marquez. And was seriously peeved when he didn't get the decision! And, as I say, I favoured Casamayor over him, so I ain't no Marquez lover either!!!
If he beats DLH and Hatton then I'd say top 30 easily - if not fringe top 50. Scrub David Diaz off there though, just because he held the WBC title doesn't make him a genuine elite fighter.
Still a good win though. Hasim Rahman was no elite level fighter but he's one of Lennox Lewis' most important wins, for different reasons (obviously)
Barerra,Morales and Marquez were the only genuinely elite fighters he fought and beat. The others I named were simply 'world class' hope i got them all.
I honestly believe the first fight WAS a draw, but I'm interested to see with rounds you scored for either fighter in the 2nd fight. Never mind, I won't disagree with ya, everyone has their own opinion. Does anyone ever find themselves in the zone with their judging? Like scoring for aggressiveness when a fight's in Vegas, or giving every round to an Eastern-European fighter when they're boxing in Germany???
Marco Antoni Barerra(twice) Erik Morales(twice) Juan Manuel Marquez(win and draw) Make him to 75 not 50 yet. If he beats DLH then heis definately top 50.
I said yes, but he's just on the fringe. I haven't actually made a P4P list to see if there are 50 guys I'd rate ahead of him, but when I think about the guys who are usually in the 40 - 60 range on most of these lists (i.e. Lamotta, Lopez, Conn, Villa, Nelson, Hearns, etc.), I think he fits fairly comfortably in with those guys.
