Very good list, also Darts is very popular in the UK, probably more so than Snooker. Although I prefer Snooker, Higgins vs Trump starting soon :good

And there is a very big gap between Football and all the rest

    What about Golf?

how popular is darts exactly? I mean, I know it's sometimes on itv4, right?

I doubt they get a lot of viewing figures though, snooker as well, I doubt the viewing figures are that high.

I'd say snooker is a lot more popular than darts.

If itv/bbc would put boxing on, they will get the viewers.

the PERFECT opportunity was for bbc to snap up Wlad vs haye.

I don't think athletics (track and field) is that popular either to be honest.

Yes, actually Golf is also quite popular as well, I would replace Athletics with Golf on the list.

Hmm, I think Darts has become more popular than Snooker in recent years. And its been shown on Sky

Darts is quite popular. They fill out venues everywhere from what I see. It is similar to boxing in a way. The sport has their hardcore followers, and decent amount of casual fans following the sport (add in a good number of people who go for the atmosphere, and who just go to get pissed and have a laugh). Coverage is limited, and rarely seen on terrestrial. Although it probably picks up some steady figures on Sky.

Horse Racing and Golf would both come above Boxing, sad to say, which is why I said "would barely scrape into the top ten" in an earlier comment.

Good shout with Horse Racing. You could probably rank Horse Racing quite highly in terms of popularity, and definitely in terms of coverage. One of the most covered sports in the UK.

I'd agree with Miketysonko, I think darts has overtaken snooker to becoem the number one really lazy mans sport these days, snooker got alot more hype when I was at school not so much these days whereas darts has really taken off for some off reason.

Footballs clearly number one here, after that it's be either cricket or Rugby, probably cricket internationals being bigger but domestic rugby being more popular than the local cricket competitions. Then I think it depends on what's going on at the time, wimbledon pushes tennis to the forefront but the rest of the year it's quite quiet, a big fight does alot for boxing, Button or Hamilton winning the grand prix pushes racing, and so on.

you are also from UK, so you are saying that bladegunner is talkingg out of his ass and is lying about pac not getting any coverage in UK?

boxing doesn't get a lot of coverage overall, 90 percent of sport in news papers is about football/soccer.

    it sucks!!!

yeah i understand. it's about the same in philippines when pac was not yet a superstar. but i'm curious, is amir khan well known in UK like hatton or joe calzaghe? who is much popular between khan and haye now? does pac having fought hatton and being the sparring partner of khan has an effect on how pac is known in UK or only hardcore boxing fans knows this?

Calzaghe wasn't really well known (or liked), not until the Lacey victory. Khan has been very well known since his silver in the Olympics. His fan base doesn't touch that of Hatton though IMO.

Haye IMO. The media has a hand in this. After all of the failed negotiations with the Klitschko's...somehow Haye came out on top, and it was the brothers who were delaying the bout.

More so Hatton. Pacquiao knocking out Hatton in 2, and a potential bout with Mayweather has more of an impact on peoples awareness of Pacquiao, than Khan being his sparring partner. Although, every Khan bout...in the build-up, Pacquiao being a sparring partner is always brought up.

thanks for the feedback! so basically, UK's awareness is mostly from the hatton fight since khan is nowhere near as popular as hatton? if pac would walk in the streets of london, would people notice him and cause car-crash like in washington or would he be just like an ordinary person?
