You have a wrong concept of being "humble". When you don't acknowledge you opponent for besting you, that is not being arrogant, but simply their nature of being competitive. Pac never said that "morales does not punch hard" or degrade the capability of Morales. Some fighters respond differently to loss or win, and sometimes, their adrenaline is still high when those interviews happen. Humbleness extends outside of the boxing court, which is the important thing, because boxers are actually out of the ring 99 % of their life.
pac is humble, he doesn't talk trash but he is a sore loser. Humble or being humble means not thinking highly of yourself and not degrading others. Cheating on his wife and being a sore loser is another thing, he makes ridiculous excuses but he doesn't make excuses that attack other boxers, like saying i wore the wrong socks but if i did have the right socks i would beat his ass because he isn't good. He always does say that everyone he fights is a great fighter, and even said that about floyd, he doesn't belittle them
One had to take consideration the manner and context these words/actions were uttered/done... With that said, humility is also telling the truth in a manner that is not gloating. Remember, it is harder to resist the temptation of gloating and the pull of a warrior's pride when you have truth on your side. Proof that truth could be on Pac's side? One only needs to see how Pac went on to vindicate to a great extent what he had been saying in the subsequent 2 fights after, and what he has done (and continues to do) up to this point sans the tall and sometimes absurd apologia for Pac's defeated opponents. :good No disrespect to the OP but you do have to re-evaluate and widen your canned understanding on what "humility" could and should be. (That applies to me and prolly every fanboy too).
I never thought I'd hear such bull****. For someone of the stature and with the unspeakable talent he posesses, Pacquiao is one of the most humble boxers around. There are plenty of examples of it.
Man, if Pacquiao should ever lose, many of his so-called fans would be the first ones to call him a bum. Sad, but true! Many of his fans are more arrogant about his achievements than Pac himself. You can see just by looking at ESB.
Boxers can only be judged by the results, all the rest are alibis. That said, the socks statement seemed legitimate to me at the time since I actually saw the huge blister on his right foot (IIRC). The socks were apparently bought at a store on the way to the fight by one of his team members at the time. Of course, to fans and haters alike, that seemed like a ridiculous excuse.
No. He always has excuses for his not so good performances. A humble man would be Mosley. That guy is such a class act it makes him unmarketable.
I know, and I've heard many of his fans diss him for that at the time (Morales I). Hell, when his fans were unhappy about him negotiating long and tough with Hatton, I read many Pinoys predict his downfall and the rise of that Sonsona kid as the new Pacquiao.
The only people who buy into Manny's false modesty are his fans. The guy is just as much as a diva as Floyd Mayweather Jr. Manny puts on a good front though, I will give him credit.
Not sure about Pinoys specifically, I don't know many. (who people most often refer to as just "pac fans" to avoid being called "racists" I've noticed) But as for his fans in general, I don't remember it quite like that, that's kind of a big generalization. I can say there were just as Manny praising his effort. And every fighter is going to have fickle fans anyway.
