One of the best accomplished South paws in history but not the best .. When you place him along side the like of pernel and Hagler, they exceed him in so many area in skill and levels of competitions.

I know the purist is going to love the technicians. So I can see why they wouldn't consider pacquiao for this distinction.

But physical boxing is a legit style too. There was period back in the mid to late 2000s where he caused guys with a LOT more skill than him troubles.

Compare the level of competition between Hagler and Pacquiao.

    Hagler's comp

    Duran A+
    Leonard A+
    Hearns A
    Mugabi B+
    Antufermo B-

    Pacquiaos competition

    Morales A
    Barrera A
    Marquez A-
    Cotto B
    Ledwaba B-
    Hatton B-

I think Hagler had the slightly tougher competition. But his biggest fights had hhim dragging up his opponent in weight. In the Duran example it was a significant weight climb. Pacquiao never dragged up a notable opponent. All those guys listed were either bigger than him or virtually the same size.

That's not a criteria for being the greatest southpaw of all time. In this instance, Jake Lamotta is right, probably for all the wrong reasons though :yep

    1) hagler
    2) pacquaio
    3) pernell
Pretty easy list tbh , pernell doesnt have that great a resume, maybe if he didn't get robbed against jcc and delahoya it would be different for me

I'm sorry but Pernell Whitaker was a boxer am I right? Cannot punch? Then how did he win all those fights he fought? How did he become p4p #1 and undisputed LW champ? By not punching? Hmmmmmm :good

Funny part is that no one else has mentioned Saldivar, whom I seeing beating Manny Pac at 126.
