Is Manny Pacquiao's punching power comparable to Tysons for his weight class?

Pacquiao undeniably is one of the biggest punchers for his weight division and he can clearly take his opponents out if he takes control of the fight. Rather he likes to break down his opponents and weaken them first before he delivers the KO.

As we all know Tyson was basically a knockout artist. Does Pacquiao have the same kind of punching power compared to Tyson for his weight class?

He got great punching power but he is not an one punch Kayo artist like Mike. Paciquao delivers constant heavy shots in a constant pace.

at 122 he caught lucero with a straight left and his opponent forget where he is..
he always repeatedly using 1-2 punch yet effective because of his power. when he caught you clean with his left straight "lights out" back then, PAC is one dimentional relying solely on his power

    No, not at all.

However, it should be said that little guys have very little power compared to their durability. An KO percentage of 80 at heavyweight is good but nothing special, whereas you'd rarely see a featherweight, lightweight or even welterweight with that percentage.

So in a pound for pound sense he might be in the same range if you correct for the lack of power small guys have, but then again, in pound for pound ratings, heavyweights don't get the excuse to be less athletic in general, so i'd say Tyson is still the bigger puncher pound for pound !

at 122 and below perhaps..but above 130 and above no, the power is still there though but the KOs are due to accumulation

Pac's power is very good, but not 1-punch KO power likes Tyson's. His power is generated by his speed and he generally stops his opponents by accumilation.

Nevertheless, Pac is a much more effective ko puncher than Tyson, what you would call a composite puncher, I guess.

    No, he doesn't.

Tyson could knock you out withe the very first punch of the fight, whereas Manny Pacquiao has gone through long periods of hitting his opponents flush without getting the stoppage (Marquez, Diaz). I think Pacquiao's speed is more of a factor in his knockouts than his punching power is, but he is still a very hard-hitting little man.

A very subjective issue---would a Tyson at 122lbs do a one punch job on ---Pacman-Morales-Barrera-Marquez----I dont think so.:smoke

Defo not a 1-punch KO Power [First RDs.]
But still as effective overall, when he lands his shot's.

No way, I don't think anyone is a more effective ko puncher than prime Mike Tyson.
