Is Manny the greatest fighter of all time if he beats Spence convincingly.

Errol Spence is not the be all end all opponent but it would be such a huge win for Manny, considering his age and how many years and titles he’s collected. It definitely moves him up a couple notches on the ATG scale

 

He's already an ATG. The next level has nothing to do with victories, it's another step, another flavor. Duran, SRR, Ali, Louis, Armstrong... they are more than their fights. If manny can reach that point does not depend on the spence fight. Manny has already built his legacy, for good, no matter what happens in this fight.

In order to know his level of ATG-ism.... we need to let the time go by and look back then.

Personally, I dont think he will. Imho he will always be one step behind the greatests.

 

For me maybe. I would still have SRR over him but he would prob be a solid #2 and I wouldn't have a prob with him being number 1 but I understand most people here wouldn't agree with me.

I think we were having the same conversation when Pac beat Thurman. A Thurman that looked like crap in his previous fight, hadn’t fought in who knows how long before his fight before Pac and hasn’t fought since. This madness is what turns people against Pac.

You can't leave out the fact that Pac is 42 and much smaller and was KO'd in his prime.

Spence is not an ATG, but if Lomachenko went up to 147 and beat Spence, it might be the greatest win in the history of boxing.

Beating Spence now would be more of a reflection on Spence than Pac, who is nowhere near his prime.

You're acting like this is the equivalent of Duran moving up to 147 and beating srl. I got news for you it's not. Durans win over srl is greater than Pac's whole career. Spence is a good fighter maybe a future hof fighter but he's not a special fighter, let's not kid ourselves here.

 

GOAT is in peoples heads. Pac will be GOAT to some. Nobody can deny he's been a great fighter and ambassador for the sport.

 

Again, that's not really relevant. If Inoue went up and beat Lomachenko, it would be the greatest win in boxing history. Not because of what Lomachenko is or isn't, but because of what Inoue did. It's simply unfathomable there a bantamweight can go up to 135 and beat Lomachenko.

Just like it's unfathomable that a small, shot 42 year old part time boxer with a 2 year layoff can beat Spence.

You yourself said Spence is gonna brutally beat him down and retire him.

 

If inoue did it It would be big win no doubt but it wouldn't be the greatest. There have been better wins Duran beating srl being one of them.

 

You ain't seeing it, bro. Crawford is 10X the boxer that BJS is. But Floyd beating Saunders at 168 would be far more impressive than Floyd beating Crawford at 147.
