Is Manuel Charr the longest reigning WBA Heavyweight Champion since Louis and Marciano?

I think he might actually be.

He won the WBA belt in 2017 against Alexander Ustinov three years five, months and about 20 days ago.

This will be his first defense.

Three years, five months and 20 days is longer than Muhammad Ali held the WBA belt after beating Foreman, it's longer than Wlad held the WBA belt after beating Haye, longer than Patterson, longer than Frazier, Ellis, longer than Charles ...

Rocky won it in September 1952 and retired in April 1956, which is three years and seven months.

So a win over Lovejoy and no losses in the next two months moves Charr into second place behind JOE LOUIS?

    Gotta love the WBA.

And Manuel Charr ... who is a credit to his race ... the Human Race.

First Charr isn't a champ anymore. Second Klitschko's WBA reign from 2011-2015 is longer and probably others like Ali.

You are right about Wlad. Four years and four months. So Charr is currently in FOURTH place, behind Joe Louis, Wlad and Rocky Marciano.

Ali's WBA reign was from October 1974 to February 1978 - three years, three months and 15 days.

    Charr has already surpassed that.

His first WBA was brief, because he was stripped of the WBA belt when he signed for a rematch with Liston in '65. He didn't win it back until he beat Terrell in February 1967 and was stripped a few months later because of Vietnam.

Ali is behind Charr in this regard in the WBA's world.

The Mount Rushmore of WBA Heavyweights - Louis, Wlad, Marciano and Charr.

He's the WBA champion. It's the same belt every WBA Heavyweight champion has had.

There's now about half a dozen HW WBA "champs" and I'm sure they'll add more soon.

The organization has been around since before Louis. It was called the NBA back then. They changed their name in the 60s. ****ing amateur.

Charr isn't the WBA champion anymore.

    Charr is champion in recess.

Trevor Bryan is the WBA champ.

Likely. At this point, I'm tired of differentiating for them. They make and hand out belts that say World Boxing Association Heavyweight Champion to everyone, all those guys pay sanctioning fees like every other WBA champion does, so everyone they hand one of those WBA Heavyweight Champion belts to is the WBA Heavyweight Champion.

If they don't care about the history of their own org, why should we preserve it?

He's not in recess today. LOL

His belt doesn't say Champion in Recess. It says World Boxing Association Heavyweight Champion.

So that's what he is. They gave him the belt. He's paying them a fee to defend it. He's the champ.

He's not in recess. He just fought. (Champion in recess means inactive. You are no longer in recess when you are active again.)

He's the WBA heavyweight Champion. Just defended the belt for the first time.

The belt doesn't say Champion in Recess anywhere on it.

Just the words World Boxing Association Heavyweight Champion.

Nope. He isn't the WBA Champ. Trevor Bryan is.
