The Butt hurt is strong with you. I don't have time for this, you can join Mcvey on my Ignore list. Have a nice rest of your life.
It depends what we are talking about. Was he the greatest technical fighter in the sense of feints, fundamentals, ring iq, all around ability, etc. ? No. Marciano was at least decent in a world class sense in all of the those categories mentioned, aside from all around ability perhaps. But for someone who wasn't really a cerebral fighter in the normal sense, he was terrific. Marciano is the definition of "anything can happen" in boxing. With him nearly all bets are off.
I am as staunch a defender of Marciano as anybody here, but I have never seen him as featuring in the debate about the greatest fighters of all time. That is a viewpoint that tends to be held by casual fans, who don't fully understand boxing history.
The greatest in any sport or proffesion tends to be someone who transcends their particular universe. In boxing that man was Ali.
Deflection. Can you also not construct any sort of argument for him being the greatest despite the points I have listed and further despite those points being used by yourself ad nauseum in other threads? This fighter you have described must surely be in the argument of being the greatest or are you merely afraid to connect to the dots you have already plotted?
Far too much emphasis is put on unbeaten records, more so at the present time. Quality of opposition and longevity are, surely, more important when considering the stature of a boxer in history.
