In boxing ability no and not even close... BUT as a boxer to rally around and support, he is definitely up there at the top

    Good point.

He wasn't the best, but as for the greatest he has a case.

Don’t think any fighter can really be given that title considering the best fighters in the history of boxing all excelled at different things.

Marciano has an argument for GOAT at heavyweight but I think he's a clear notch below Greb and Robinson P4P.

Though I don't rank Rocky in the top 10, he has a loose argument for top 10 P4P

If his defenders are not arguing for it, then why are we arguing about it?

Not for me no. But his ability to endure pain & overcome his own limitations is very impressive & admirable.

That’s the secret. His defenders don’t idolize him as some say but analyze what they believe to be true in H2h matches. If it doesn’t fit their criteria they have no rational argument so they must slander the opposition. I have no idea why Marciano gets them so riled up? I can compliment Dempsey, Louis, Ali, Liston, Foreman, Holmes, Holyfield exc and everything’s fine but mention the Rock and people lose their minds

Honestly the same people, with the exception of McVey, get riled up if you mention Dempsey as well

If he was legitmately a Light Heavyweight I think he'd have a pretty solid case.

Never understood why anyone trying to detract from him calls him a Light Heavyweight.

If he was a light heavy and had the likes of Bivins and Maxim on his resume as well then definitely. In the same way that Langford could've been the goat at 145-175

But Marciano wanted nothing less than the heavyweight division and the greatness that came with it

I do find hilarious irony in people who call Marciano small then insult him for fighting "blown up light heavies". Like, doesnt that mean he fought people his own size?
