    Will Roach ever get the courage to make this fight or will Khan next be fighting a plush toy in his next defense?

    although Maidana beat Ortiz in an entertaining back and forth brawl, he does not bring the kind of money to the table that would get many people interested in fighting him. I'm sure Khan made more fighting Salita than he would fighting Maidana.

    Sucks to say it. I think beating Maidana would put to rest the question marks left behind by Prescott. But seriously, Maidana doesn't have enough clout to land this fight.

    What would be the WBA's interest in having their champion and interim champion fight? That's half as many sanctioning fees as if they each fight other people....

    Khan and the joke coach roach want no part of El Chino. They admitted they would rather vacate. Khan is a horrible champion

    Maidana is looking to fight Alexander, for the WBC title, so will most likely relinquish his 'interim' belt.

    Don't expect Khan to fight anyone who can punch for a while. There is a reason that team Khan is looking to fight Malignaggi.

    Horrible champion? The guy has only made one defence so far (and that was against a mandatory), so give him a chance for crying out loud.

    As for fighting Maidana, Roach said in an interview a while back that this will be an explosive fight, and one that he would like to take somewhere down the line after Maidana makes more of a name for himself. He said something along the lines of..."Why don't we let that fight build, there's more money to be made that way"

    And of course, Roach probably feels Khan may not be ready for the likes of Maidana yet. I would agree. Khan to me is still abit too green, and has yet to completely get rid of them question marks about his defence.

    Today = Maidana victory
    12 months = Khan victory

    I'd never heard of Salita either but he was an undefeated american fighter (which is easy to hype even if it doesn't mean much) and also a jew fighting a muslim which despite everyone being very careful not to touch upon probably helped the promotion.

    Maidana is the interim champ, which basically means he's Khan's mandatory. However, if he fights Devon Alexander as is rumored, he'd need to give up the interim title to do so.

    They admitted that they would rather vacate than fight Miadana?? Come to think of it, we are talking about the guy who said Kastidis was the weakest champion out there, which is why he challenged him! Amir mate, think for a second: It is with statements like these that you will never be viewed as the superstar you demand us to recognise you as, until you decide to fight a right side of prime, legitimate, world class opponent who can hit bang a bit. There are plenty out there for you to chose from.

    If I was Maidana I would force Khan to fight and not let him off the hook by fighting someone else. Khan is clearly running from all heavy hitters in favor of soft touches like Salita and Malignaggi. I'm surprised they didn't offer Juan Diaz a shot at his paper title by now.

    :good The more I think of it, the more this looks like Amir's next fight.
