All this "overrated" **** got to stop, they were 2 boxers fighting ,what do y'all want? one has to win and one has to lose, its that simple . A lose doesnt make Cotto neither would have make Margarito Overrated they are both Tought fighters, if you call Cotto overrated then probably maybe 5 of the top 10 boxers of the world are overrated as you put it

I Don't think it's a great comparison. I think Marg. is more like Matthew Saad Muhammad. His bouts with Marvin Johnson where Saad wore down and KO'd the better technician come to mind.

I think Margs. chin is up there with Haglar's. Marg. just gets hit perfectly hard shots so damn much that it amazes. Haglar had much better defense and movement than Marg. Haglar would get blasted and take them impressively but it seemed to be much less frequent.

    (bold) - I agree.

If you read my post correctly, I clearly stated that only those who called him a "great" fighter were over-rating him. I consider a "great" fighter to be one I could match-up against the "great" fighters of the past. I don't feel Cotto has earned that "title." That is my personal opinion.

I was very clear in stating that he was an excellent fighter.

Hart should be on that list of Hagler opponents, as he was a very good fighter. If he was, you'd have a set of wins spanning a decade.

The first Margarito win off that list was 5 years ago. So assuming both fighters have the same 10 year period on the top, and Margarito fights three times a year, he could fight:

    Mayweather
    Mosley
    Cotto II
    Williams II
    De La Hoya
    Berto
    Judah
    Quintana

If he beats all those names as well as a few guys we don't rate yet, such as Victor Ortiz, which is possible, he would retire with a bigger legacy than Hagler, in my opinion.

Whether he would do, I doubt. But I don't think people should write him off either. Look what happened the last time they did...

style's wise no way are they similar. hagler worked behind a great constant jab, was nimble on his feet and could fight in close and from range. probably comparable chins, i'll give you that.

career wise, if margarito were to clean out the division of, lets say, mosley, williams, mayweather, cotto again etc.... then that warrants a comparison.

Margo mania is now in full swing in his what will be a very quick 15 minutes of fame anyway that doesnt prevent a load of cocks and ignorant morons from from posting their putrid ****. Margo will be losing here shortly.

I guarentee that if he fights Judah and Mosley or Berto one or possiby 2 of them hand him his ass on the scorecards this is a 50/50 possibility and his best approach to remain the champ at 147.

However if he chooses to fight Clottey or Williams, Santos or any reasonable facsimilie of Santos at 154 to include De La Hoya he has a 3 out 4 chance of having his ass handed to him. This is a 75/25 possibilty. This is the worst of approaches if he wishes to remain the Champ, either way he will be dethroned within 3 fights. Im willing to make a liftetime ban bet with any of you cocks out there that say different. Provided he fights any 3 I have mentioned.

There are very few similarities to either fighter. Why are you stuck on that comparison? They fought nothing alike aside from having granite chins and progressing as the fight went on.

A late-round Marvin hagler? Marvin Hagler will always be dangerous from start to finish. :)

That's a good point I think based on what I've collected. If I'm not mistaken, Haglar went 26-0 before losing to some cat who's name I can't even remember. How about the guys before then, were they no-names? That's a little before my time, I'm afraid.
