Not at 140, and not at this stage of his career.

We all know that Maidana is a bad fight for Khan...He may well turn out a great performance and pull it out, but Maidana brings all the things Prescott did and more.

Maybe Im overthinking it but its really hard to gauge what Marquez has left. The undersized issue aside, he has never been beaten like that before in his career. He has never been dominated in losing. Now the fact Mayweather looked like a middleweight compared to him in there might see people excuse him for such a one sided loss but its hard to say how he is coping with that inside.
Physically he isnt young either...This is just something to think about not only for the Khan fight IMO but even other less risky ones out there.

Khan's fragility makes any fight where he faces a half decent puncher worth catching though.

Boxingwise yes... Marquez isn't as fast as he once was, but he's still a very fine boxer and will give Khan a lot of trouble I think. And he still packs a punch, so he's a very dangerous opponent for Khan.
I even pick him to win.

But on the other hand, Maidana only has to land one of his bombs on Amir's chin inside the 12 round bout. Khan has to be on his toes the entire fight, and I don't know if he can.
If the Maidana fight would go trough I guess there will be a KO win for him, too much punching power for Amir to handle

I don't think JMM should be fighting above 135. Saying that, even at this stage of his career and at 140, he's still leagues above Maidana as a fighter.

Maidana is obviously dangerous for Khan because of his chin issues but he tends to throw wide, looping shots that Khan should be able to avoid if he fights like he did against Kotelnik.

I personally think Khan is all wrong for JMM but it certainly won't be easy. All he has to worry about against Maidana is avoiding one of those winging haymakers - JMM will make him think more than any other fighter has.

I think it's pretty harsh to crucify Khan for fighting JMM instead - especially if he fights Maidana afterwards.

Isn't Maidana lined up to fight Cayo though?

Ofcourse he's not , he would be at 130 , maybe 135 but definetely not at the jr weltwerweight , 2 much weight and size difference , i bet khan rehydrates to something close to 150 for fight night. whereas marquez looks like he's pregnant at 140.

Maidana can hurt khan even thru gloves , and he's a great finisher so he wont give amir any time to recover after landing , that plus high workrate and good stamina , is all wrong for khan , 1 mistake and its over , and im 90% sure amir would make that mistake , the best thing for khan if he ever fights maidana would be to take him out quickly or else he will be taken out.,Conclusion: maidana is much much bigger threat for the englishman than Dinamita Marquez , even tho p4p marquez is 3x the fighter maidana is.

Hard to gauge. JMM was already stretched out at 135...just look at his struggle with Juan D & Casamayor. Khan will bring size, speed and skills of Casa. JMM can definitely hurt him, but if it goes 12, Khan wins.

I said it before his fight against Floyd, he should not be fighting over 135, even in his 2 fights at 135 he looked really bad against not so great opponents.

Then again boxing fans a fickle. They actually thought those victories showed he was at his best. They were impressive wins but considering how much better JMM is, he should have dominated those...he didnt. Can you imagine what a true dominant fighter would have done to a plodding Juan Diaz?

People also forget that was JMM's 3rd weight class and 3rd championship...there's a reason no mexican fighter has ever become 4 division champ, its hard, yet people expect JMM to not only do a 4th at his 4th weight class, but a 4th at his 5th weight class against the former p4p #1.

exactly. not naturally big enough and past his best. Khan only in it for the payday. Still could be toughish but maidina would have had khan worried all night with his power and khans less than adequate chin

Both fights will be tough for him, maidina in the early rounds and JMM will become more dangerous the longer the fight goes.

Marquez is a much better test. Maidana is good but i feel he's very over rated because of a win over Ortiz, during which he himself was knocked down sveral times. Marquez may be older but he is still a master and would cause Khan problems due to his savvy and skills.

Marquez presents both greater risk and reward. For Khan, Marquez brings more exposure in America than does Maidana.

Maidana was out boxed by Kotelnik which shows he can be easily outboxed by a disciplined fighter. So Maidana beat Ortiz, well is Ortiz a proven commodity? If Khan beats Maidana most people would agree he beat an unskilled fighter with nothing more than a punchers chance.

Marquez is a great fighter. He fought P4P the best fighter in Mayweather at 147, two divisions above 135, and not to mention Mayweather also came in above the 147 weight limit. So Mayweather had a huge weight advantage. Losing to P4P best two divsions above his weight doesn’t make Marquez washed up. Marquez only last yr at 135lb was the first man to stop both Cassamayor and Diaz.
