At 36 years old, with 55 fight memorable fights/wars under his belt, will he be able to continue his career at 140?
I personally would love to see him become the first 4 weight division Mexican champ and think he'd have a pretty good shot against either Bradley or Khan. But my question is, has he extended himself further than his small frame can handle?
He wasn't exactly dominating either of his fights at 135, and we saw how awful he looked at 142(welterishweight).
I would hate to see him continue on, only to be canon fodder and record padding for the young lions, ala JCC and Barerra.
What are your thoughts on this ATG's future?

Marquez is a fighter who has always struggled with a counterpuncher

Freddie Norwood beat hi sbum several years ago....

the weight also effected his speed of movement , carrying the extra 10 pounds over 12 round takes it toll

    Valero is a joker.

A much more competitive fight would be Marquez vs Bradley at 140. Or, if Floyd fights Shane, Pac vs Marquez 3 at 140 for The Ring belt.

Marquez didn't look great last night but he showed he tough he was and showed he would at least attempt to force the figh. He didn't take too much of a beating, my only worry is re-shaping his body yet again into a 135lb or 140lb frame..........Valero vs Marquez would be funny though, Marquez would slaughter him.

What next, Valero vs Floyd :rofl

Going back down to 135 would be a bad move at 36 in my view. I know they are nothing alike, but Roy Jones immediately comes to mind. Also, at this stage of his career, Valero is all wrong for Marquez. His speed and power, throw in the fact that Marquez would have to lose weight/muscle to make the limit, Juan would be in for a rough night. I still think he should go for history and guaranteed immortality, and reach for a belt at 140 against Bradley.

Call me crazy but I'd wager a Valero win over Marquez at this point in time. 2-3 years ago, different story.

we can already sense that he had too many wars on his last few fights and couple that with weight jumping and you bound to overstretch yourself. i have made a comment like this in one of the threads that maybe jmm, could already be shopworn.

two grueling wars against pac, one with barrera and two fights at 135 where he struggled first before getting the stoppage. pre floyd-jmm fight, i actually didn't want the pac-jmm3 as much as before because i knew that if ever pac would have beaten jmm clearly this time, pac would not get as much credit because of jmm's state.

I thought it was really a bad move when he decided to come up at 144... he was slow as **** and seems to have lost his timing. He bulk himself IMO a bit too much...

That wasn't the same marquez i saw against pac...

what got me frustrated is that i saw him trying to time pbf but pbf's jab and right hook is way too fast plus the way his mid-section got so thick that he cant punch at a good speed.
