Is Marquez really going to turn down $10m-$12m for $1m?

Just finding it hard to believe. If he fights Pacquiao and wins he gets to win all that money and then challenge Bradley. If he fights bradley he gets $1m - if he loses to Bradley he loses his leverage with Pacquiao who can then just fight Bradley and go some way to redeeming himself...

Don't get me wrong, admirable if the pride in Marquez comes before any money but we're talking abotu a huge life-changing amount - even for Marquez, a cut of $12m (and I'm sure he could get that) would add huge security for his family's future

Surely his wife, who had such a big say, would be like "Juan, if you're stlll risking yourself in the ring isn't it worth doing it for the most money you can get?"

Anyway guys, so no Pac hating or ***** talk please - let's just talk about Marquez - can any of you understand him wanting Bradley ahead of Pacquiao and therefore potentially sacrificing $10m he'll never see again? I mean we know he's not scared of Pacquiao, he's a warrior and fought him 4 times already, if he loses it doesn't affect his legacy at all or take away from his last win....I'm just not getting it...

    It's about more than money.

He's damned if he does, damned if he don't anyway.

If he fight's Pac again, he gets **** from people asking why he doesn't fight anyone else and he just has Pacquaio's number. This is a way to prove he's still effective against anyone.

And if he doesn't fight Pacquaio, you get bitter *******s saying he's afraid of him etc etc.

Point is, he's a G and he can fight whoever the **** he wants.

    Haters gon' hate.
Bradley is the better fight, JMM already schooled then KO'd PAC, (4-0)
    (Nothing left to prove there)

Now Juan attempts to do what Manny couldn't...

Trust me, he's going to get far more than just a million to face Bradley.

He will get a lot more than 1 million for Bradley.

Assuming 250k PPV buys, which is a pretty safe and low estimate, fighter purse will be around 6 million (not including gate, endorsements, etc) so Juan is probably looking in the 4 million range for this fight.

If it is $4m then fair enough - it'll be interesting to see if that's the case.

Silly comment I was looking to avoid. Not saying it isn't a good fight, it's a fight I would PAY to see - my point was i'm trying to udnerstand Marquez's thinking especially if the money difference is as big as I suspect it will be.

If $4m then fine, makes it easier to understand, but not sure how you come up with that.

Marquez's previous best before Pac III and IV was $3m vs Mayweather.

In a PPV against Diaz in their 2nd fight that did between 250k-300k on PPV and that had the hype of their brilliant 1st fight. Marquez earned $1m from that fight once the promoters, venues and undercard fighters got their cut

So I'm not sure where $4m is coming from - bearin in mind Diaz got $540k and Marquez will not get that kind of 65-35 split against Bradley...

Listen... I'm a fan of this sport I don't get paid.
(I could care less how much they make)

Bottom line is I have seen PAC/JMM 4x's already & Marquez is clearly the better boxer, No need to see this again.

    On to the next.

bradley = low risk, low reward (an easy win for $1m)

pac = high risk, high reward (hard fight that could go either way for $12m)

if i was an aging fighter like marquez, id take the easy million rather than risk my health...
i wont be able to enjoy $12m with less of my faculties intact...

It'll be an even bigger middle finger to Pacquiao if he takes Bradley's 0 officially. It's a good decision, Marquez is ****ing loaded anyway. Isn't he an accountant? I don't think money is the main thing to Marquez anymore, he's a very smart guy and he's made his cash.

Smart of him to pull away from the table and not take a 5th fight, albeit disappointing and a bit unsporting.

Marquez-Diaz 2 did 150k buys and the 1MM was simply the guarantee.
