The reason why people is giving Martinez a chance (myself included) is because Martinez has a similar style to Quintana's (who upset Williams) however Martinez is faster and seems to hit harder...however, Martinez usually holds his hands down (I saw an interview and he dsays he does this because he feels more confident doing this than fighting with his usual stance) and I feel that Pwill may catch him one of those times

    yes

Williams is extremely hyped up the ass, and Martinez has the same style that gave Williams trouble against Quintana.

This is going to be a TKO win for Williams or a wide decision win for Martinez.
There is that shot of it being a robbery against Martinez though.

    I was wondering this myself.

Watching the Cintron-Martinez fight I saw a couple of things I didn't like, which is Martinez after punching drops his hands and backs straight up.

However, he has pretty good accuracy inside which is required to beat Paul Williams. The punch that put Cintron down was as good as it gets.

If he drops his hands and backs up like he was doing in the Cintron fight I think Paul will catch him. If he doesn't though and he moves laterally, he can very much confuse Williams and maybe even hurt Williams.

It took Paul 13 rounds to figure Quintana out. I have a suspicion that Martinez might take this one. I guess if forced to make a pick I'd go with Martinez.

He lost to margo years ago but has impresively beaten Cintron who I believe ranks second class. He could box like Quintana did but I think PW will be waiting for that. PW has a high work rate like Margo and even longer arms. PW UD or possible late stoppage.

williams is an impossible style to replicate. and if you do find somone who is close to it they are just not as good. good ,hard to beat but not a great fighter.

martinez has what i takes but i'm not sure he can do it.

style for me is to jab and move around the ring launch with a lead left and clinch. from persoanl expereince southpaw vs southpaw the guy who throws more usually catches the other southpaw becuase he isnt used to the angle while the guy throwing isnt thinking about picking his punches.

but a jab fest could happen

i dont think and quintana have much in common in thier style other than thier southpaw stance. martinez is extremely padded and i dont think he will make it the full 12.

he has good speed and a nice jab but it was only impressive vs bunema. in with cintron though he won 2x in one night imo. he did nothing to impress me and make me feel.

does martinez have the goods? i say no.

Maybe a few years ago but I think Paul has improved greatly since the Quintana loss.

It's largely unknown, but I say yes he does. He hasn't faced enough top quality opponents to guage that, but he easily beat Cintron and the Bunema fight was a spectacular wipeout. Bunema's no top notch fighter but he did knock out Karmazin.

I am actually picking Martinez to win a close decision simply by pitting their attributes against each other. PW's best quality is his workrate, Martinez will negate that workrate by moving alot. Remember that Margarito and Winky are stiff targets, Quintana was mobile. Sergio's best atribute is his speed, I haven't seen Williams face anyone perticularily fast so it's an unknown. Martinez likes to come over his opponents and fire down on them, he'll go with a lead left, right jab, straight left, Williams is probably too tall to be affected by that. Of course HBO wants PW to win so he can fight Pavlik, so close decisions have a great chance of going Paul's way.

yup. martinez is a marathon runner on his free time and he seems to be a bigger version of quintana, but i think quintana is alittle more technically apt. he does not leave his hands as low as martinez, but we'll see. going with the punisher on this one

I think Martinez can win but he will need to fight a discplined fight and not showboat or keep his hands low.
